i agree. and it has been steadily going down with every new model.

whats interesting is that Mahindra is going to introduce the same refresh scorpio in the US and they are decreasing the quality ! beats me as to how do they expect to compete there with ever decreasing quality standards??

mahindra feels its better than tata (quality-wise) & so it can compete with the international players. sadly, i dont think so.

P.S.: by the way, i am a mahindra fan & hence its biggest critic!

Even the front/rear bumpers have become pretty light and fragile now. I remember in our old scorp the bumpers were quite tough however the new one is very disappointing. By the way, any solutions to the issues that i have highlighted Raj? Thanks.

Folks I am curious, any pointers to a source which says that M&M have decided to reduce the quality of the vehicle ?
From what I can infer, the US being a competitive market M&M seriously needs quality stuff rolling out from their stables to compete there.

I would beg to differ on that. I have friends with TATA SUVs who narrate some absolute horror stories about their service centers.
On the contrary, I have had a Xylo for a year now, and haven't faced any difficulties or encountered any problems as yet. Perhaps, the fact that so many rugged car enthusiasts buy Mahindras (the brand is portrayed as being rugged) and use and abuse them, may be partly responsible for the higher number of problems which the company encounters.

Just my personal opinion, and love for the Scorpio speaking.

Cheers.

While it was not absolutely necessary to bring TATA in to picture in this discussion it was kind of inevitable, anyway my friend I am 100% sure that Raj never wanted to shower any kind of praises :-) to them but that does not make any difference for anyone.

US market is actually quite different and a trouble could means millions of dollar in damage control. I am sure M&M is well aware as they have already burnt hands in Europe.

Also those who belive that quality of components in Indian product and one being exparted will be 100% same are kind of naive. Indian manufacturers do have concept of "Export Quality" which does not exists else where.

What Raj meant was that, Mahindra should not think that being better than TATA is enough to compete internationally.

I am pretty sure he did not mean to imply that TATA has a better quality v/s Mahindra.

I personally am not very happy with the interior plastics on my mHawk. They feel cheap and lack texture.
:(

no pointers, just an experience of owning three different generations of scorpios-
2003 non-CRDe
2005 CRDe
2008 mHawk

i wont say the quality of vital components have decreased as such. but yes, the build quality or shall i say the fit & finish has certainly suffered.

Guys,

Bought a scorpio almost 2 weeks ago.. i have noticed that there is a hummm.. noise when u drive at low speeds (low RPM) as if the silencer is vibrating and touching the body or chasis. Has anyone else noticed this on theirs? or is it just mine and i should get it checked. I just clocked 700 Kms.

Thanks

Jack the vehicle up and shake the silencer pipe before the rear propeller shaft. It will shake. You have to get tighten it. Better to put some mseal at the packing area and then tighten it.

I had the same issue.
