Oh yes. The RM can make a lot of difference. However, it also depends on how one interacts with the person. I have seen the same relationship manager lose his cool and mumble some choicest of epithets against a particularly abusive customer. At the end of the day they have been put there to make your life easy. However, if you take the amiable way your RM interacts with you as his weakness then you do that at your own peril.
I have had a good relationship with him all along and that has not harmed me in anyways for sure. Quote:

Oh yes! I did see that post and in fact was wondering on whether to quote that post when I was posting this issue here. However, I do not think it really deserves any sensationalism as yet. I have not seen any mass reporting of these issues as yet. Also, while the preliminary report by the roadside assistance guy was a busted seal it may very well be something more. Will know later today.
The point remains though that the failure of such mundane parts as rubber seals and hoses only proves that M&M as well as Tata probably do not pay heed to such small part vendors as much as they do on their bigger ones supplying substantial equipments and parts. However, its mostly these things that seem to fail prematurely so often. How many times have we seen cracking rubber beads, leaked hoses etc? I think once too often...
I or for that matter any owner who has spent 1.5 mill, big ones, on a vehicle would not like to see a two pence seal or a hose bring the vehicle to its knees. Does not do much for inspiring confidence of the others. Quote:

Couple of questions:
1. Was there any indicator glowing either before or after the incident happened which indicated PS malfunction?
2. How many kms did you drive (while returning home) without the PS? You didn't ask for roadside assistance right away? |
1. Nope. In fact I realized with this malfunction yesterday that M&M still has some scopes for dumping a few dozen more sensors probably in this already sensor laden car. Seriously, they have sensors for every damn thing in this car and yet there is none for PS! Nada. No light nothing, before or after the incidence.
In fact even with all my experience I was sitting inside struggling with that steering for 30 seconds without a clue as to what happened. Then I came out and looked underneath. I think even then I was not sure what i was expecting to see although I knew I will find some clue under the vehicle. Sure enough...the vehicle was just dumping the remnants of the last few drops of the PS fluid left inside. Under the vehicle there was a small pool of red colored PS fluid.
2. I was hardly a couple of Kms away from my home. So drove it back home. Anyhow these things take time to arrive and I had to take my wife back again to the diagnostic center in an hour for another test. So could not have waited there. By the way, I did not call the number they stick behind every XUV. I straightaway called my RM and asked him what to do. Everything was closed as it was a Sunday but the guy just took over from there. Quote:

May be 2 kms Anand. However today morning the car would have been driven another 5.5 kms or so to the service station. The guys arrived at the promised hour to take it back. They also had a bottle of PS fluid. I guess they were hoping that if the leak is not big the PS oil will keep leaking but they should be able to get some assistance in driving some way till it drains out. And then they will top it up again and drive upto the A$$. However, the vehicle just dumped all the oil promptly. So they had to drive cautiously without PS assistance till the service station. They called me after reaching the A$$.
