I would be interested to know the other 68% since we all pik-up from the chemists who claim it to be 100%. We aren't as fortunate as you are in locating an Alchemist.

Watched Mythbusters on Discovery yesterday where they added Acetone to fuel and did some scientific tests and found that FE drops by almost 20% by using acetone. I havent seen the program from the beginning so I am not sure how much percentage of acetone they used.

Hi TURBOSAM,

Glad to know about some expert guidance on this thread. Also if 32% pure acetone is having such good effect then I agree that 99% pure will pass on more benefits. For my personal use I used to source it from Princess Street in Mumbai but I m not sure about its purity.I think we must buy it from reputed manufacturer itself & not from retailers.

Sorry Mayavi,

I suppose you meant FE increases by 20% right?

WOW we have been blessed ppl SAM BHAI is here hehe...

@Mayavi FE drops and FE increases with the addition of ACETONE. You have to find the correct ratio its trial and error. You have to work more on trial and error if u have MPFi car rather than a Carb.

Sam on a non-audio thread?? what's going on here?? hehe, j/k

Well, looking at Mythbusters usual intentions, I'm sure they proved that FE DROPS by 20%. I'm going to have to see the episode on youtube or something now. As someone said, u gotta find the GOLDEN RATIO for your vehicle....I have found some amounts that drastically reduced my FE a couple of times.

The other 68% in 32% acetone would be nothing but distilled water...unless they're using some other solvent in the mixture when they make weakened acetone. Kind of makes me wanna wait till I can get real, PURE acetone from the chemists' rather than the pharmacies.

Acetone in matiz

Hi All, since acetone can wreck havoc with plastic parts I need to know if anyone has used it in a matiz as the fuel line in this car is made of plastic.

Hi TURBOSAM,

I think adding few ml of xylene with acetone & 2T is advisable.Xylenes helps blending 2T well in acetone apart from giving improved performance. Also I think you can try various ratio like 1ml/ltr.Just 1ml per ltr gives sufficient lubrication to upper cylinder area and to fuels. We are adding tiny amount of 2T for lubrication purpose.I think 4ml per ltr is on very high side. But good that you tried it.Keep sharing.

Having been adding acetone since 2 times and have finished 2 tankfuls of petrol on acetone and i must say the engine has definately become more smoother and more responsive but dont know the fuel gauge which din conk for 9 years conked off after i started adding acetone.Even with a full fuel tank it shows only 3/4th.Dont know if its related to adding acetone or no.

The service station guy says we have to open the fuel tank and check the mechanism inside.
