very well said azz... quality spare is what makes a job right with a decent workmanship off course. It kind of loot 12-14 K for labor
One more query, does that palika bhawan do a complete steering job including dismantling-repairing-refixing work. As its a little hassle to get it removed at one place and repaired at another.
I have heard about a good steering work guy in nehru-nagar (near lajpat nagar), any idea about it?

For the top speed on the old beast, I have recenty done 135, 120 and like, I must say at 135 I started losing confidence whether the car will be able to handle anymore. Nonetheless it is still a lot of fun to push it.

I sometimes wish had it been a RWD, it would be nascar everyday!

I'm not here to beat those top speeds,I normally drive on the expressway at around 100 max. Never really pushed her above those speed. But was just wondering what the capabilities are.
Also what's the average tyre pressure required for the expressway. I ride in 195-60-14.
175kph, but with upgraded suspension. 195mm tyres on stock rims.

While the recommended tire pressure is 30psi for the highway, Shan2nu has mentioned that he has got amazing fuel efficiency with 34psi on 195/60 tires and a refined driving style.

Hope this helps.

Back in 2010 , when i just got the car, (stock condition) 86k on odo, serviced the car and took her on the expressway at night , achieved 185kmph in the tunnel , I have never tried doing that again !

Now after some mods KNN & FFE i find it difficult to cross 150Kmph,

Cheers!

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Not a serious issue ryan, as it appears. Just an adjustment of the signal transmitter.
Get it checked at any decent workshop and its a 15-15 mins job.
How is your OHC keeping up? Any other issues?

It would be good if you could share with us the cost of engine work.
Shockers were Munjal Showa. Had the option of TRW but I've always been told against them. Gabriel was another option.

Lower arms I do not remember, will check and re-post. Piston rings were NPR and valves were Kirloskar. Genuine Honda packing etc., Gates timing belt.

There is another thread that talks about the top speed attained and a lot of OHC owners have posted. Search and you shall find it.

30 psi is good!

Rs 3600 or Rs 3800 for the set of front one's. Sourced from Tamanna Auto itself.

If you want something else, I can get them for you from Kashmere Gate, should be cheaper than this.

I have the rear shocker bush kit for both sides if anyone is interested in buying it for cheap please let me know.

Thanks Honda Monk ! I'm relieved !

My OHC has just crossed the 1lac mark , doing fine !

Recently replaced the disc pads and belts from a local mechanic = Rs 1500(some squeaking noise exist when i brake now)

Back suspensions needs to be changed-any suggestions which brand & cost?

Gears are getting sticky - does it need a clutch replacement.

The car goes to Solitare honda every 4 months for a tune up and oil change the bill does not exceed Rs1500

City average 8 kmpl with ac 70% on

Latest installation
Head Unit - DEH-P4200UB (removed the JBL 333 )
Projectors
Woofer (Focal in vented box)

A Pic of her

Nice, neat looking OHC. 8 kmpl is pretty low in my opinion!!!

Which brake pads did you get? I got BOSCH for mine this time around for Rs 1050, always used to NISSIN otherwise since they never screech. BOSCH are doing good too, just hoping that they should not start squealing in time - hate that!

Clutch replacement could be possible. Replace gear oil if not done ever.

I just got the clutch bearings changed last week for the first time ever. Clutch plates etc were in perfect condition.

You are welcome friend!
and Yes you have got a really neat looking car.
Regarding rear suspension, there are only struts and bush kit to be replaced.
For shocks you can go for Munjal-Showa (if you can procure new as market is flooded with refurbished ones) or KYB is also there. I am using KYB (Gas filled) for one and half year, ride is marginally stiff but I am liking it.
Bush kit can be procured of any decent local brand as your reliable mechanic suggest.

Flush the gear box and fill with fresh oil. Use OE, I hope you can get it at H.A.S.S.
That is an impressive cost of tune up at Honda. I believe that doesn't include oil cost off-course!?!

Yes non-OE pads make screeching sound. I am also using bosch since last replacement. It made some noise after 500Km something but later stopped itself.

Please do keep sharing the experiences.

What have you done with the car!?!
When was this picture taken?
If OHC is giving such a good FE, WHERE is the need left to buy a diesel car!
