Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars

The dealer is giving you wrong information. If its a November manufactured vehicle then the last 3 digit will show as LPZ.

Sorry unable to get the Engine no of this vehicle at the moment.

Great. It is an Ikon 1.3 purchased in July-2003. Am planning to sell and buy a Fiesta. Was doing some web research on Vin-decoding thru which as per my decoding it was appearing as a 2001 make..hence the doubt.

^^^ Here is some tip for your yet to come Fiesta VIN , if you are planning buy it in year 2009.

11th digit of VIN represents Year and 12th is Month.

if 11th = 9 then Year 2009
if 12th = K Then its October
D Then its November
E Then its December

Thanks Wildon! The sales head of the dealership confirmed it is a Sept'09 make. Either the sales guy was misinformed or pulling a fast one on me. Is it OK to buy a Sept'09 model?

There will an additional 2 digit after this and the same can be found underneath the hood/ Bonnet, like MA3EED81S00885377-L9

If its L then it represent November 2009, if other please look at the chart below

A9 = JAN 2009
B9= FEB
C9= MAR
D9= APR
E9= MAY
F9= JUNE
G9= JULY
H9= AUG
J9= SEP
K9= OCT
L9= NOV
M9= DEC
