Now that the brake issue has been resolved, another brake issue seems to be creeping in. When trying to brake, I hear a small whistling/rubbing sound from the rear wheel (probably from the left rear wheel). The brake cylinders for the left rear was replaced last month and right rear was replaced last week.

Any idea what might be the culprit ? For resolving my earlier brake issue, Manipal mechanics has checked all the four wheels (brake linings, discs, calipers etc) and has found no fault with them.

Tata Indica Xeta starting problem

Hi everyone

My friend has a Tata Indica Xeta which has done 21,500 kms. This car has a CNG kit in it.This car gives trouble while starting every day in the morning. The car is started on petrol and then changed over to CNG.It take a good 15-20mins starting and then after that you shut off and start again no prblem at all.The car works alright after that. This problem has been there for a long time.He has taken it to the TATA service stations where they conected a comnputer to the ECU board of the car and they removed errors as they say. After that it was ok for 15 days and then it starts again. Was wondering if anyone is facing the same problem with their car.I think there is something wrong with the ECU board of this car.

Mods- please move this thread to the appropriate section.Didn't find the technical part.

Can also be a weak shock absorber.

On my V2 DLG, for the last two days am hearing a 'krrrr' sound on turning my steering full.

Have never heard this before and hence am a bit confused.

The V2 DLG has done 43K kms now and hence a query here.

Inputs welcome.

I hav to meet my mech on Tuesday fulltime for all the issues, needless to say srinagar has the worst Dealership workshop so need to rely on local mechs, although mine does a grt job.

ON 42k i plan to :
Oil/filter, Diesel filter change
4 wheel Bearing Check
4 Wheel Brake lining chnge
Will check Transaxle oil too same goes for the PS oil
Glow plug check (Winter special)

I am still looking for the Noise dampner cover for the engine though

Also anyone has any ides if i can install the rear wind screen defogger as chilly winters are comming on quick

do check the brake fluid too.

the rear defogger should be possible, but apart from the glass and the wiring , you'll have some plastic bits to add where the contact is made, along with the rear parcel tray

Problem with the power steering pump - bearing damage or chipped pump vanes. Check if the power steering fluid is topped up or not. If yes, then till the pump is opened and checked, try not to take the steering to full lock on either side and cause that sound to come.

ok Today was th day at the Garage, heres what was done there:

Oil Change with filter
Diesel filter change

4 wheel check took us to changing a complete bad rear outer (small) Bearing which was the Tyre eater culprit!
Rear Brake pads were as good as new.

Front bearings were all fine although Disc pads were changed which looked worn out.

Gear Oil was just fine so was PS oil .
Although there is no Engine oil leak we are tracking a small leak which seems to be either PS oil or Gear oil.

The car is breathing a new life at 43539 now, i enjoyed the drive yet again.

Spot-on SS.

The culprit was the presence of very little steering fluid that I topped up immediately.

All's well and smooth now. Back to the grind.

Appreciate the immediate response as well.

Cheers.

Normally PS fluid doesnt need to be topped up. You need to keep checking it regularly and look for possible leaks in and around the reservoir, pipes and the rack oil seals.

I agree Aditya.

My old war-horse ( NA Indica DLX ) at 103K kms had a leaking joint issue for the PS at 88K kms. But then, I did not get any irritating sounds that trigerred my query, only a gradual drop of oil from the pipe joint that got noticed.

Here in my V2 now, am positively going to keep a check on any leaks for this issue.

power steering is an achilles heel. its placed at a vulnerable place, and the seals etc can be damaged by rocks etc or other impact on the underbody

My DLS 2004 (82K) had a leak from the oil seal and i was stupid enough to get it done by a local mechanic. The leaking stopped but the steering is very hard to turn now. Been trying to get this fixed for the last six months but no avail.
