No. I meant what the manual outlines for my diesel engine, i need to change oil every time i go for a service which is in 10K intervals.

GTO - Servicing interval – confusion

[quote=GTO;687739]Here is some further fine-tuning of the original checklist.

Every 10,000 kms

• Mobil 1 – Change engine oil & oil filter.

GTO,

Have one query, most of the people says get your car ( petrol vehicle ) service after every 5000/6000 km, I own Zen Vxi ( MPFI ), I gets it service after every 5000 km, Normal servicing includes :

Washing Vehicle
Changing Engine oil ( I uses Castrol GTX )
Changing of Air Filter
Changing of fuel filter.
Normal chks like Break oil/ pad checking , battery checking,
Your Post says “After every 10000 km”
Change : Mobil 1 – Change engine oil & oil filter.

I stays in Mumbai as you are, My Most of the run is in the city, Now pls clarify servicing is required after 5k or 10k km ? My Current odo is 48129 km

Regards,
Jitendra

Nicejits, stick to 5K intervals for your engine oil change as is the case for most petrol engines.

nicejits, if you are using regular oil, then stick to the 5K interval. However, you can comfortably stretch the drain intervals with Mobil 1 / any other fully-synthetic oils to 7,500 - 10,000 kms.

Also, there is no need to change the air & fuel filter every 5,000 kms.

Differential Oil for 4x4 I dont know, but for cars with no 4x4 its better Not to change but rather - Check and Top Up. Even advised by the mechs although the dealer would like to do it @ cost.

8. Change fuel filter.
if its not heavy and blows freely doesnt need a change but at 60K if you feel the need its best to do and note

17. Change timing belt every 55,000 kms. Replace water pump along with?
the water pump replacement - pls share this info as to why both replaced.
whats ur view/ findings on the above.

GTO and Mobike,

Thx for advice still I have couple of doubts

As suggested by you I can change Fuel and Air filter every alternate service ( i.e. after end if 11000 km rite ? pls note I am using Castrol GTX ) ,, will it make performance down of may car ? will my fuel efficiency come down ?

GTO : which Synthetic oil can be used in Zen Vxi ( Mpfi >> Petrol car ) ? which is the good grand ? how much does it cost ? I never used it.. if now onwards I uses it will it create any bad effect on my machine ( car has done 48110 km on normal oil till date )

Your car performance will not go down by using Castrol GTX, which i assume is the manufacture recommended lube.

For synthetic oil go for Mobil 1 as recommended by GTO in his previous posts and i think it costs you about 1K. Just ensure that you flush out the regular lube from the engine before pouring in the new oil.

Mobike,

Will average ( efficiency ) come down after replacing fuel filter and Air filter after 11000 km with Normal oil?

I find your questions a little bit strange

Anyways, when you replace dust clogged fuel and air filters and replace the oil that maruti recommends, why would the FE go down? In fact, there are good chances the FE may increase.

Fuel and air filters are "supposed" to be changed every 10K and oil changes at 5k for petrol engines. So FE will NOT decrease.

now, lets rest the case

Yup, I meant the radiator flush only.

Indian fuel quality, being how it is, I would actually recommend a fuel filter change atleast every 20,000 kms.

In Honda's (and some other cars), the timing belt has to be removed to replace the water pump. Thats why.

Check driveshaft boots every service. The warranty of the drive shaft is void if the boot is torn or broken... Mention to service advisor to have a look at it every time we give it for service. This makes sure that it will be adjusted if its fitment loosens.

Air filter cleaning can be done every 2500 kms (original paper type), Not sure for K&N or greens. Takes 5 mins so if you are passing by your service center or water wash guy, stop for a movement and get it done. This particularly helps the LPG fitted engines

Totally agree with u.Drive shaft boots are really small things but if ignored lead to the entire drive shaft wearing out in no time because of all the grease leaking out.
I clean the airfilter every 2000 km and it really helps in maintaining the performance of the car.
