re: Ford 1.4 TDCi Tuning Options

Can someone also eloborate on why tuning box options are bad for the Turbo?

To me the most important thing in any mod is stock relaibility. The ability to start the car and go for a 1000 km trip without any worries about fuel etc.

Even the Intercooler mods would affect the reliability.

I think the 7K chip from UK is the best option. Is it a DIY installation?
Same here...have any one tried the same with 1.4 tdci? did not find any results for probitz installed in 1.4

re: Ford 1.4 TDCi Tuning Options

Guys, I own Fiesta 1.4 TDCi.

I have been contemplating of getting tuning box. While my search is still on, I found that RED ROOSTER PERFORMANCE has diesel tuning box for Fiesta.

Here is the link

Diesel Tuning Box | Red Rooster Performance

I called them up today.

The price quoted - 24K
Type - piggyback tuning box
Tuning level - Single
Power Gain - 40% approx (that makes it 95 approx)
Torque gain - Not sure if 40% applies here
Installation time - 30 mins approx
portability - The gentleman said they do not suggest DIY. If you need to remove visit them.
Dealer - Four Seasons in Mumbai

Any info on this particular tuning box you guys have or any one who has tried this box?

40% peak to peak improvement I would say is a bit far fetched on your engine.

What is the safest peak improvement for 1.4 TDCi. I am not at all looking at 40% or 60% gain. All I want is a probably 20-25% gain.

I am planning to check out Pete performance tuning box...proce is one let down in it.

You might also want to check EngineCal website. They have worked on my car (petrol) and have done a good job. Their core strength is with Diesel Engines and should definitely have an option for the Figo, which is safe, reliable and also help you notice the difference in power. They are reasonably priced as well.

Hi Firebird, AFAIK, the petes box is tried and tested on the 1.4 tdci (mainly fiesta). Go for it.

Also, 20-25% gains is what you should expect.

Firebird,

Did you fix the RRP/ Pete's chip? I am trying to find someone in this forum who has fixed a Racechip to Fiesta 1.4 TDCi. It would really help me in deciding to get it fixed on my Fiesta.

re: Ford 1.4 TDCi Tuning Options

hey vinu, I zeroed down on Pete as I got positive responses on Pete. Nothing -ve that I received on RRP. However decided to for proven than unexplored. This is not yet done, however surely will get this done in couple of months.
The only thing which is making me think is 42K , however will manage that in couple of months.

re: Ford 1.4 TDCi Tuning Options

Today checked the thread on Spider tuning box.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ck-pg-2-a.html

This is exactly what I found at Four Seasons in Mumbai and they quoted 24K. If I am given an option, then I will try that out.

re: Ford 1.4 TDCi Tuning Options

I found another good option.

DieselTRONIC - Diesel ECU ( tuning box) to increase power and mileage with remote for multiple maps | racedynamics.in

I spoke to Chetan from RaceDynamics

The Dieseltronics Pro is available for 20K.

This has 4 maps, P1, P2, Eco, Stock.

Best Part - This is not vehicle specific. This can be ported to other Diesel vehicle I may buy in Future. The wiring needs to be changed which they can do it.

I am finding it better than other boxes now. I also found a thread about Cruze with RD box.

They will get back to me by weekend and let me know who can install the box Mumbai. He also mentioned that he has 3 other Ford Diesel customers waiting in Mumbai for the same box, so he is trying to arrange something for all of us. Those who are interested please PM me or talk to Chetan directly.

Before the question comes - This is an universal box independent of vehicle make and model.

Guys, review coming in few day.
Yes...I got thr RD Dieseltronics for Fiesta.
Price - 20k

The performance figures in percentage gain

S - STOCK
E - LEAN THAN STOCK...however no lugging happening - FE INCREASES. I use this in bumper to bumper traffic.
P1 - POWER GAIN BY 15 TO 20 % - this is an awesome mode. No down shifting in city. Can be used in city. No adverse impact on FE and should increase. This is fun. The fiesta comes alive. I like this mode very much.

P2- POWER GAIN BY 40%
simple words to describe
HELL BREAKS DOWN. I did check with RD if clutch takea hit. The answer was no. The P2 mode is just below peak so no worries.

Tried P2 mode at night on western express highway and on sea link. FIESTA becomes a different animal. I did not try this in city.

Few points
1. The power gain numbers quoted here with refernce to a small talk with Pawan from Race Dynamics.
2. I did not experience wheel spin. I am already on G3.
3. The modes can be changed while in motion. Yes and with a remote. So cool.
4. Service level of Race Dynamics is AAA +.

I will post a detailed review with all issues faced and how they were resolved. Yes with pics.

Highly recommended for TDCi
