Thats great news,i will go for it.
How do they mount it?
Do they have to drill holes?
Each bar represents 2 ltrs of petrol as per manual. and when all the bars disappear (when E starts blinking), You will have around 3 ltrs of petrol.

I'm badly in need of the Left ORVM. I wonder where In hyderabad can I find one. The hunt for one is on since last week. (that's when I got my nano )

Whether the 'internally adjustable' LRVM and RRVM of spark can be fitted on nano ?

Hey Mohanan I guess you misunderstood the statement by "shineshine" he actually meant that he got the internally adjustable LORVM for spark at 650/-. It cannot be fixed on a nano . All he wanted to say, I guess was the steep price for the LORVM for nano!

Right. But, after hearing that 'internally adjustable' mirror is available for Rs. 650, I was seriously asking whether there is anyway of fixing them on nano. Most probably, we may have to drill another set of holes. Still we get 'internal adjustment' at a much lesser price.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

Two months of ownership, first the AC blower got short circuit and now the compressor itself is gone .

Not long back, about two weeks back we decided to go to Nandi Hills in the morning. The drive was supper cool and I kept the AC on to keep the cabin at a moderated temperature as the outside was cold enough. The car climbed the hill with ease with no hick ups at all. On our way back the outside temperature was warm enough so I had the AC on all the time. We were just about to reach home we decided to stop by for breakfast. Suddenly I realized that it was getting warmer rather hotter inside the car. I checked for the fan and AC button all were on and the AC indicator light was on as well. So I pulled over to check whats going on. With the engine turned on and the AC on I found the front condenser grill fan operating but what was surprising the Rear AC compressor was not working I.E the electromagnet was not activating the compressor. Time to visit TASS!

As I arrived the next day, after listening to the issue the service engineer got in the car and switched on the AC and guess what it was working they said it could be an intermittent issue and it has resolved on its own. I bought the car back.

The other day I took it out, it worked fine and then after like 10 minutes it stopped again! This time I thought I have to take TASS for a ride! Finally after a lot of argument and a test drive they accepted its an issue. Today I got a call from them and they confirmed that the AC compressor unit has to be replaced. I guess I am tired now. Lets see what next!

Booked a Nano Lx lunar silver for a friend on her insistent.

As far as LH mirror is concerned they can be fixed by drilling holes on the door. Its a easy job if you know how to properly use a drill.
Finally arrived. I must say this is the first dealing with TATA Udaipur (Classic Motors) and man they are really slow. It took them 23 days to get this color and alloy. Overall a wonderful experience, GM's personal driver came to deliver it 180kms to my place. Look at the bright side I got a BS4 for old price.

1. One major flaw is that there is no indicator for AC. So you will not know until the cold air blows. And it does very slow here in the hills. A bright Rs.2 Led light wouldn't have hurt.

2. Sharp corners and it will come on two wheels,. Managed to do it thrice. , Not that i recommend it to do.

3. Like I said before drilling for LH mirror is a fine job with lot of patience not to chip the paint.

4. Alloys do help. they gave me 425 each for steel wheel. Hence alloys set me back by 1600 each.

5. Wish there was a glove box in top end model atleast.

4. power windows switch is placed weirdly.

5. Lo...oot of panel Gaps.

6. Got freebies, seatcover, mudflaps, two set of mats.

Hello and Congratulations!

FYI the AC button does have a blue indicator lamp which comes on when you turn the AC switch on, if it does not then probably the LED is fused. Please visit TASS and have the same replaced.

Cheers!

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

My Nano has been driven 5,024 kms so far. Here is the list of parts replaced under warranty

1. Driver-side power window switch - replaced at 2,300 kms. The power window switch got stuck suddenly.. the next day, tata's service person came home and checked it in person, after two days he came and replaced the switch free of cost.

2. Accelerator cable - replaced at 3,800 kms. The accelerator cable broke while driving in a city road. I called the 24x7 helpline, the guy suggested me to drive the car without using acceleration (purely using the in-gear power and torque). Somehow i managed to reach my home, which was only few kms away.

Then after 2 hours, the tata service person came to my home and replaced the accelerator cable with the new one. When asked why it had broken too early, he said there has been issue with the quality and that many Nano owners had complained the same.. he assured that new cable is of better quality and should withstand longer kms.

3. Combi Switch - replaced at 5,005 kms. The combi switch includes the headlight stalk (high/low beam, turn indicators), the wiper stalk and the hazard buzzer (all direction lights glow).

The headlight stalk in my Nano did not work properly. There was problem in switching the headlights ON but i thought it was lose contact in its wires because at times, it was working properly. But the issue grew into a big one when two days back i could not switch OFF the headlights.

I called the 24x7 immediately(around 9.30 pm). I was told that they have informed the nearest mechanic in my areas and he will arrive soon. Finally the mechanic arrived at 11.30 pm. I was expecting a tata service person, but to my surprise, a myTVS 24x7 guy came and checked.

First he could not understand the wirings in Nano (in fact when he switched on the engine and used the headlight stalk, hearing the engine noise he asked if the car was running on diesel? ). After some half-an-hour of exploring everything he finally removed the headlight connection and said that the combi switch had a problem. The next day morning, I called up Concorde (Ambattur, Chennai) telling them that the combi switch has to be replaced in my Nano. They asked me to come a day after since they had overflowing vehicles for service that day.

I went to the service centre the next day at around 10.30 am as they told me. I told the service guy that I need to replace the combi-switch under warranty. He gave me a ready-made answer, 'Sir, today noone has come in the warranty section (?) and we cannot replace it, come tomorrow!'

I explained that I had been asked to come and then told him to crosscheck with the person I talked yesterday. A while later, he said 'Sir, ok, please wait for 1 hour, we will replace it under warranty, no labour chargers etc.. '.

Hence i waited in the customer lounge watching TV for sometime and reading my favorite novel. The combi-switch was replaced and the service person informed me only at 1.30 pm(I waited for 3 hours :() . When i went to check if everything was working atleast with the new combi-switch, i was frustrated to know that Fog lamps were not working.

I reported this to the service guy who said that the mechanics have gone for lunch and it would take time. He promised me that it would be checked in the next service if I wish. I said, 'I will wait and get it done'. At 2.10 pm, the mechanic took back the car and brought it back at 2.30 pm.

Finally i came home at 3.00 pm and had my lunch... There was no apology from the service guy nor the mechanic for their lack of attention to their work.

Summing up,

1.Its safe to buy the upcoming (Second version) of Nano hoping that the owners need not replace any parts and therby get frustrated often like me and fellow BHP-ians who own Nano).

2.Tata A.S.S seem proves me everytime that they will never be the best, hope u would agree... My guess is that most of the service persons, mechanics are either leathergic or take the customers for granted.. and with Nano owners like me, we get the least-priority treatment.

3. I am seriously worried about how I am going to live with the Nano for the next 2 years.. Not sure how many parts has to be replaced

SirAlec: I also have a new LX BS4 Nano. Could you please update on the advantage of alloys on Nano? Is the ride better? Does braking improve?

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

I have LX for past one year have driven only 1200 so far.
Its always been a nightmare to drive this, I also have a i10.

Each time i drive nano i get left knee pain and back pain as well.
The gear changing is so so hard at time i just ignore and move back to the previous gaera as the 2 to 3 just does nto engage,
and the clutch is also very hard,
Each time the *** says thats how the car is , you fool, if u have bought a nano then start living with it, don;t expect a smooth drive ever.

Would like to sell it on weight basis, if my agree(who bought the car) agrees

Beg to differ with you, Sir. My family and I have done over 16,000 kms since the Nano arrived into our lives in March 2010. We simply love the car and its a source of joy to this day. Knee pain? Back Pain? Gear shift Problem? Never ever had any reason to complain.and except for occasional clutch adjustment have never had to call the technicians attention to that area.
I'm sure the technician at the local TASS will be able to fix your problems in a jiffy.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

We bought our Nano last year on 31 October. Have had absolutely no problems with the car till now. Yes Tata motors service setup in my city Dehradun is very very slow and the staff does'nt appear to be trained to handle customers who are particular about their cars. They are more oriented towards casual cab drivers .They are unable to appreciate customers concern about their cars. I have had service staff scratch the door panels which they appear to have prized open with screwdrivers. Seat covers tend to be soiled during servicing. Carpet had oil stains after service. Infact I have had my phone stolen when I went to take delivery of my car from within the show room on a sunday with no customers around since sunday is a closed day. So I dread going for the next servicing. The car though is fun - easy to maneuver and a comfortable city car.

Re: TATA nano - List of ALL issues

I am facing a weird problem with my nano which as run almost 2500kms. While driving in bad roads, I could feel like something is loose in between steering and tyres.

I shoke the tyres sideways to ensure that the bearing ply, and the results are negative. So bearing ply is ruled out.

The issue is more felt is bad roads in crawling speeds. I raised the issue with SA during the service and they were not able to reproduce the issue as the issue get reproduced only on peculiar bad roads.

Please advice what are the other weak points in Nano which can bring similar issue.

All tata cars are really good. I am proud to see that an Indian Company Tata Motors is doing very well in refining their products very fast. Take the example of Tata Vista. The Service Centres are no where near the quality of Tata and it is in the Service sector that Tata has to do something serious, if it want to lead among the competition.
