Underbody treatment / Anti-rust coating for the car

Hi,

I have a Baleno Lxi, I bought it on 14th Sept 2005, almost from the time i bought my car Chennai has been under heavy spells of rain. I had drive my car thru bumper high water a lot of times. Iam thinking about getting the belly of car teflon coated. I asked a couple of freinds and the maruti authorisedc service center, but i seem to be getting different opinions. The service center people told that it would be better if i get a teflon coating done. My friends say that most of the cars today have high grade paint which is usually rust free. Would be happy if some of guys give some information on this.

Lottoman.

I think the idea must be to protect the underbody with paint containg teflon . There is no harm in using it .teflon have excellent water repellent properties .

Under body dinitrol treatment is also an option...The effect will last you for atleast 4 to 5 years.

Hi,

It is practically very difficult(read impossible) to do teflon coating for the underbody. The recommended products would be Dinitrol, Under Chassis Rubber Seal, Fibre Coating. There is also a product from Wuerth which is expensive called Stone Chip Gaurd which is recommended. Teflon is ideally used only on painted surfaces and is meant to retain/protect the paint gloss.
Treatments cost vary form 1200k to 4500k depending on the product you choose.

I think it is Under Chasis Paint. (A Mix of Black paint followed by a thick leather Coat kind of thing) costed me around 2K for Ikon.

well most modern cars come with good caoating underbody or otherwise, often wonder why then they offer the 3 or 4 year warranty.. yeah if u scrape the underbody all this doesn help..

ol car especially after a refurbishning job, maybe worth it..

my mantra, wash the underbody thorough at a car wash every month and yes at night the tail gaiting guys will get envious also..

Check with Anil of HotTracks. His other setup in Indiranagar BDA complex (next to bus depot) has 3M service. You can also check with Sundaram Motors at Kasturba Road. They also have 3M service.

Cost would be around 4500/-.
