Re: The 2013 Skoda Octavia | Views of an Unofficial Expert

Being not aware about the tax component in Bangalore but will take the ex-showroom price in Delhi which is 19.26 Lakhs. In my personal opinion, if the car is priced beyond 20 lakhs, then, at least for me it would, “The Legend has gone back”. I would rather go in for Superb or BMW or C class Mercedes.

In any case, the company is coming up with the new car to remain in market as the outgoing one was fast becoming obsolete. Unless and until company stuffs the car with something extra, why would a customer shell out extra money.

In U.K. it is being sold at about 23,000 Pounds with hell lot of features.

Why would I go for something which is not offering regular features of a luxury car, more so when these gizmos are being offered in small cars today.

In Indian version the power has been reduced from 148 to 143 bhp, but why?

There is no Sat navigation, smaller central console screen, no vehicle settings from media unit (Sport, Econo etc.) like the one offered in BMW 3;

Front passenger will have to adjust recliner manually (gosh!! my dear husband you paid treasure for this);

No key less entry or push start button;

Superb like dual opening of boot – missing (we need this much of innovation especially when you need to open the dicky each time you enter any mall or hotel).

Or is it the company is floating these rumours of pricing in the range of 24-25 lakhs just to sense the market sentiment. If it is going to be reality, then it would be a disaster.

Hi
Bangalore taxes are high... super costs 32 and the BMW, merc,audi start at 38 for the basic model.
So if Octavia is priced at 25 for the elegence it's still fair as its just one lakh higher than the outgoing model and 6 lakhs cheaper than the superb.
Cruze and Elantra top end models are 21 plus

But I am being offered Superb Elegance Diesel 2.0 TDI CR AT for 26 Lakhs on road, which to my mind is whole lot more of a Car.

Would you feel the same when the new Superb comes out soon? Although minor updates, but the current Superb is here since 2009. New generation of engines and gearbox is always better in my opinion.

Can't compare a superb with an octavia. Some of the features in superb are on par with an audi A4 or even A6. Its like chosing a new polo when you actually wanted a vento

Didn't immediately see a launch date on the last two pages, hence the post. The car will be launched on Oct. 3 in Delhi.

Looks like SKODA designers need to relearn Photoshop!

Some random pic from the SKODA international site has been picked up, and a MH reg plate has been added to it. They din't even bother to check if its a LHD or RHD.

Re: The 2013 Skoda Octavia | Views of an Unofficial Expert

Any inkling on the pricing front. Where would the base model diesel be priced at?

Expecting the 2.0 L TDI Active MT to be priced under 15 lacs exshowroom. 1.4 TSI Active MT would be about 50k cheaper. Exshowroom Delhi.

They might start test drives soon! Was there a petrol version too? I see two cars white and silver. Also I notice in your pics that the car next to it is also an Octavia but the ORVMs are gloss black! Well thats very exciting because gloss black mirrors are available only with the Sports Package in Europe. That included a front and rear bumper spoiler, black mirror covers, and optional 18" wheels. If they do offer a sports package I am surely going for it! Can you check with the dealer if they had the sports package on the car? Anyone else has any info about official accessories?
How tasty are these wheel options they get in Europe?

That isn't the road up from Parwanoo. The cliffs there are to the left. And neither do we have such nice lane markings there!

Of course we got that on first count. It was just a joke on Skoda's lapse. BTW I heard we have built a nice stretch of road somewhere between Zirakpur to Parwanoo which should rival this highway if I am not wrong...
