Cool. So long then. I will look forward to some tips from you. I was just a little worried on the Colin bit.

Exactly 14 days since Lazarus came into my life, and the first milestone is crossed:

Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!-img_0178.jpg

There is something about driving through heavy rains when you are crossing a lush-green forest. The sheer amount of greenery on all sides feels overwhelming:

I should have gone for the diesel, right?

Nope. Fully satisfied with my choice, and my wonderful Korean steed.

Now this quote makes me a bit curious enough to respond.
Does this thought cross your mind often?

No, Col. Ghai. Not even once.

I posted that because some people might question my decision, with my 1000-kms-in-14-days running.

I am completely in love with my Lazarus, and very glad that she's the petrol side of the family.

Right now at the accessory shop, getting a few things fitted. Details later tonight, when I return home.

re: Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!

Congratulation RavenAvi on following your heart and going ahead with the purchase of an excellent vehicle!

This attention to detail is as good if not better than an official review. The mods will have a tough time matching up to this one!

I recently drove the diesel Creta for a comparison amongst Creta, XUV5OO and Duster for another auto website. Before seeing the car in flesh and driving the car I couldnt get my head around the pricing however once I saw the car in flesh and then drove it for a while I must say its a fantastic package. I drove the diesel SX(O) and frankly the performance (coming from someone who drive a Vento TDi) was extremely satisfactory to say the least. Needless to say the Creta won hands down. It just feels leagues ahead of the Duster and the Ecosport is not even in the same segment.

Sorry for digressing! I had planned to comment before but somehow your thread kept swelling everytime i tried to read till the end. Now that I have wish you many safe miles with this one!

P.S. Thanks for all the information shared by you before hand on the official review!

Sir, make a trip to Kerala to enjoy rain and lush greenery ! The monsoon is likely to be around for couple of weeks more, that would be a great road trip for Lazarus and you

BTW, I had my first dekho of Creta last weekend at the mall. It was SX(O) silver. Looked good, but I am sure white would have been really majestic ! Planning to do a TD soon, my mind is still oscillating between Diesel/Petrol decision...Driving a petrol in the crawling traffic of Bangalore, mileage would be in single digits . And I would need occasional high way drive of about 500 km one way. At least 5 times in an year, for home coming. Plus other road trips. May be a TD of petrol would convince me, I am already bowled over by the 1.6 Diesel even without doing a TD !

I think you made the right choice since you already have a Honda City Diesel. No point in having 2 diesels.

However, if you hadn't got the City a Diesel Creta and a high revving Honda Petrol for the weekends would have made a wonderful garage.

+1.

People need to check out the car in person and test drive it extensively at least once, to see what all the Creta offers at it's price points. The petrol SX+ and the diesel SX are the best choices in the Creta range, IMO.

A trip to Kerala is on the cards! But it doesn't seem like this year. Most probably 2016.

I have been driving in B2B traffic as well. Overall mileage isn't that bad for a car of this size and weight, methinks. A minimum of 10 kmpl is a given.

Please do extensive test drives of both fuel types, before choosing one.

If mileage is paramount, the diesel SX makes a strong case for itself, otherwise go for the SX+ petrol.

Thanks, Viddy.

Yes, I should have kept my 2012 City (Silver Pegasus). Still a tinge of regret of selling her off, specially after what Honda brought out in, and single-handedly experiencing, the 2014 City. A disappointment in terms of overall quality and a big step down.

Had a bit of free time yesterday afternoon so hit the accessory shops for some suitable stuff for my Lazarus.

Bought a few, ordered a few, and got one fitted as well. Ordered stuff should be here by the weekend.

You will be amazed with the amount of good stuff
accessory shops have got hidden inside their dungeons!

Also, dropped an email to Car Mats India (makers of Star 3D mats, thanks to wonderful BHPians a4anurag & paragsachania) for cabin & trunk mats for my Lazarus. Expecting to hear back from them in the next few days.

What do you mean Tyvek based? I was under the impression that Tyvek was a brand belonging to Dupont, and they were absolutely the best covers to use. Are these made of a similar material? I'm looking for a good cover for my soon arriving Creta. Want to be prepared before it gets here. My parking spot is exposed to the elements!

What are 3D mats? Not considering the 3M Nomad mats?

Pardon the silly queries...

Ravenavi, have you by any chance explored trying to install the Verna auto rear view mirror? Is it possible to fit the same?

Apologies - I should have been more specific.

Tyvek-material based matty grey car cover. It's close to the feel and finish of the DuPont product (although not exactly of that wonderful quality)

No 3M outlets near my location.

3D mats are popularised by Kagu, while Star 3D mats are quite similar in appearance and quality, but at a lower price.

The finish of a 3D mat is like this:

Yes, I have been thinking of the ECM mirror. Will explore the option when the 1st Service call comes in 2 months' time.

And please call me Avi! :P

1) Quite close. Quality of Kagu 3D mats is slightly better.

2) Nope. They come in a set and you can put them in easily.

Avinash, Let me tell you more about Starmats.

What I bought for Ertiga is simply excellent for the price I paid then (3200-500=2700/-) & I tell this after driving with them for 62,000 kms now!

I then advised folks with Linea and SX4 to buy from the same site but unfortunately the products that they received although of same quality were not exactly fitting the way it fit all 3 rows in the Ertiga. In fact, the "Tray" like feel wasn't there in all these mats like how it was in case of Ertiga.

Another irking bit about this is that they sell 3 pieces only for rear that makes things a bit complicated. For Ertiga, I had one single piece for second and one for third row and 2 individual mats for the Driver and co-passenger.

Shockingly, as of last month when one of my friend ordered one for his New Ertiga, he too got 3 pieces for second row and that is indeed not a very good fit.

I should call myself lucky that I picked it up at the right time. I wonder why they have made single piece into 3.

Here are few pictures on how well these mats fit in the Ertiga. As of today, despite of driving 62,000 kms, there is not even a light impression on the driver side mat due to constant resting of right leg at an angle on the accelerator pedal.

Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!-driver.jpg

Lazarus: 2015 Hyundai Creta SX+ 1.6L Petrol. EDIT: Now sold!-2nd-row.jpg

After my recent monsoon drive, I simply filled a small bucket of water with car wash shampoo, used a plain cloth washing brush to scrub the muck/dirt of all the mats, sprayed water all over it and let it dry and these appeared as good as new. So in terms of durability and quality, I have zero qualms about this product.

I strongly suggest you to confirm how many pieces for second row and if they can, let them send you actual pictures of these mats.
