Thanks and congratulations!
Thanks, great to know my thread helped in the buy decision of your GTX+

We got our car in March 2020 in white too and I firmly agree with every point of yours. While my car doesn't have as much power, I find it powerful enough for the highways. We have a Creta 1.6 Diesel Manual as well at home and both these engines have something good to offer to keep me engaged.
Interesting, thanks for sharing the comparisons of both your diesels. I too would have always preferred a Diesel Seltos for highways but mine is going to be used mostly in the city only, plus the petrol turbo was the most powerful option, hence the obvious choice to be honest.

I too had this beep on a highway trip and upon searching a bit found out that the speed warning system beeps once every minute post 80 km/h and continuously post 120 km/h. It would have been that you were above 80 for more than a minute when you heard the beep around 100 km/h. Even though this is a very old post of yours and you probably would have figured out the reason for this beep, just thought of sharing this.
Yes, thanks for addressing my old post & confirming the reasoning of this mysterious beep.

I wish you many happy miles in your car!
Thanks, you too

Re: Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)

Enjoyed a great city drive on empty streets of Mumbai yesterday (Sunday) afternoon;

^ Tyres pressure was 30 psi at the start of the journey, a sporty drive ensured it to reach close to recommended levels

It will not pose reliability issues if the car is brought to neutral in stop and go traffic situations and when idling at red lights. DCT is always engaging the clutch even at zero speed if drive mode D is engaged. The driver has to be mindful of this fact and avoid riding the clutch unnecessarily.

Thanks for re-clarifying all the points to safeguard long term reliability of DCT's

During the lcokdown noticed that the car has a rev limiter when revved in P or N & doesn't go past 5000 rpm;

Was using the Evoque for a few days to review.

Here's a interesting picture of the RR parked next to my Kia Seltos;

Re: Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)

As a long term owner, I would like to ask you the following

1) ground clearance of the Seltos. Is it good enough to traverse bad roads with a decent load? I have always perceived that the front bumper overhang is such that it might hit the odd deep rut or sharp breaker.
2) Boot capacity: the team bhp review stated that the boot capacity feels less than what is stated as per specs. How is it practically speaking?

Hi, sorry had skipped seeing your post. To answer your queries;

1) Good enough. Such has never happened to me. Wait for my next post as i am going to share a recent road trip report.

2) Again good enough, but for a weekend trip for 4-5 people or a 2 weeks trip for a couple.

Re: Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)

Some reviewers and members have mentioned that the dct gearbox in the Seltos is jerky in comparison to the one on the Creta which has better tuning supposedly.

Do you also find it jerky?

No. But, If the Car is driven in Sport mode in traffic conditions it is jerky.

That's majorly because of the nature of the engine/gearbox tune in Sport Mode.

In Eco & Comfort/Normal mode in traffic conditions its not jerky at all.

Birthday RoadTrip !

Birthday Holiday Roadtrip!

The way things were going with the Covid-19 situation few months back was not sure weather an holiday will be possible this year or not, but deep inside i knew come what may i will be chilling in a good resort on my birthday & things will be fine by then. And finally it was the Unlock 3.0 phase where in the restrictions were considerably removed & hotel reservations were allowed. Hence once the Hotel reservation was placed from 19th - 21st August (Birthday) i applied for the e-passes which too arrived just in time 1 day before the travel date & on the 19th morning we were off (Family of 8)

En Route, Mumbai - Pune Expressway;

The Seltos finally saw some rural roads;

The Fortuner gave the Seltos some good moral support;

Finally arrived at the resort;

Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)-20200830_214342.jpg

Just in time for Lunch. Also as the resort was running on 33% capacity, we got the best service, Distinguished seating/tables & great food;

Brought in my Birthday this way, cooled off all the Lockdown heat/tensions in my private pool;

Birthday day, left after having great breakfast/tea with this view;

Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)-20200821_103630.jpg

The rural roads in MH are truly in a sorry state & the Seltos had to be carefully driven (No Ground Clearance Issues, no Scraping etc.) through such patches (A lot of them)

Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)-20200821_124244.jpg

These Gravel roads were fun to be honest & found new respect for the OE Good Year Assurance tyres;

Roads got better finally;

Great location, Bad Road Conditions. Shameful !

POV from the Fortuner clicked by my younger brother;

Expressway enroute Mumbai was again a charm as the traffic was minimum;

TripLog;

Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)-20200830_221348.jpg

^ The car was driven around 70% of the time in Sport Mode & rest a mix of Eco & Normal modes. With 4 people on board & luggage.

Tyre Pressure for the trip selected was 36 Psi & by the end of the trip it was maintained almost same as per the TPMS reading.

Re: Ownership Review: My Kia Seltos 1.4L Turbo Petrol (GTX+ DCT)

Wonderful review thread, Karan! Read it all in one go. Rated 5*

I'm looking to replace the Swift which turns 15 in April and so far the Seltos is what seems most attractive. The feature set is spot on, it's not too big for the daily commute and I just love the looks especially of the GT line.

Leaning towards the diesel AT though. The 40 extra horses are tempting but I'm a fan of boring old TC boxes, having lived with one in my Vento petrol AT for 10 years now. My current garage is all-petrol so having a thrifty diesel would round it off nicely.

Your car is a stunner- had no idea white goes so well on this car.

Yes, definitely a Diesel A/T should be picked over the Petrol DCT for daily commutes especially in crowded cities. I picked the Petrol DCT because it was the most powerful variant and will rarely be used for long distance runs or outside the city. Even though my Seltos is used almost daily but its for very short city commutes which are traffic free routes (thankfully) hence wasnt concerned about DCT performance in bumper to bumper traffic. As you already have a petrol a Seltos Diesel A/T would be a good choice for you.
