Desi price tag .99, very Bata'esque! Can't be more Indian than that.

If the news is true then that is a stellar intorductory price. I presume this will be shortlived and will be followed by a chunky price hike before the March-April seasonal sales rush.

Tata's way of advertising their bit to help the "Save the tiger" foundation
This is a Lion family rather representing the TaMo family of cars IMHO so I'm sure it's not related to 'Save the Tiger Foundation, non the less it was an excellent review.

Plus the brand recall and being an Indian offering will have its own appeal for the Safari especially in current climes.
Correction. Current XUV500 costs 23L OTR (Before discounts). With rumoured price increase of 2 L over the Harrier, Safari will stretch OTR prices to 27-28 L rupees. Quite a significant gap WRT current XUV500. I am pretty sure Mahindra won't price the next generation XUV500 with a price hike under RS 2L. That leaves a price gap of 2-3 L with the Safari, which is quite sizeable.
