I will keep her purring around 2000-2200rpm, and intend to do only 250kms or so. Then the Delhi drive will be 300kms.

4x4 comes with Alloys and tubless too

Suman, by how much has the price risen on the 2.2 EX over the earlier EX?

So prices have actually gone down - better/more powerful engine plus body coloured cladding, at lower prices, .
When I checked in January, the 4x4 EX was around 9.07 Lakhs ex showroom.
Now with all this excise circus etc., the 4x4 EX is 10L ex showroom Ludhiana.
Delhi prices are 3000 rs more
As for Road tax etc., Ludhiana is 2% only
However I am told insurance rates have gone down.

4x4 EX is about 10.3 on the road in Cochin (with 10% RT, without any discounts). I paid 10.47 OTR in 2005 for the 3.0 (3% RT?).

Congrats, BTW.. Though we should really be wishing you on the day you pick up the truck.

I was comparing the see saw EX 2.2 prices.
And yes, the congrats should come when the truck comes
right now its just the initial booking.
I hope the truckers strike get over. No truck means no truck can come from the factory.
BTW its the first 4x4 sold by the Dealer, and that dealer holds the record for highest number of safari's sold in India from the past few years.

Thats really unusual for the largest dealer - perhaps the truck is used as highway transport by healthy punjabi families.

My dealer sells a few - nowhere close to 4x2 figures, but still a few.

No, a new Safari does not require any halts or careful driving. Keeping the rpm under the specified limit during running in is enough. The 3.0 litre DiCOR had a specified limit of 2000 rpm (115 kph in 5th, to illustrate) for the first 1000 km.

Congrats on the decision, the 2.2 EX 4x2 always used to come with tubeless, only the alloys are a add-on for 4x4.

Tanveer, any news on a date when you will be able to take delivery? I assume you are getting it from Dada Motors?

The Delivery date should be 8-10 days from now. Since the vehicle comes from Pune, its the on road time.
Lets see how long!

3 days to Cochin from Pune for the 4x4. I got delivery on day 4 (I think). But this was after verifying the inventory - I chose Silver because they had 2 Silver EX 4x4s scheduled for production on that day without a confirmed order. So they called up and arranged for this to be released for Kerala and shipped the same day. The Arizona Blue and Quartz Black that I wanted had bookings and therefore I would've had to wait at least 3 weeks for those colours.
