Hmm you seem to behave more like honda on their NHC Vtec LOL

Ajmat i guess he can swap the 4wd system from his safari in to the swift..

What target do you have in mind veyron for the swift. Are you planing to rally it or race it against me

Well...it was'nt really a conversion. The AWD system from the EVO (6 or 7) bolts on directly into the desi lancer with some minor mods.

There is a GpN rally Swift in Europe, but its still FWD I think...so...ya me curious too?

awd in a swift...montoya...already a few projects down on paper and parts have arrived to do a couple of swifts...will be touching CRAZY and i mean CRAZY bhp on it for the next speed runs. neither of them are awd...simple reason...does not work for the swift.
not mentioning too much on it because the owners want to be a bit tightlipped.

4: Have not seen any prior experience of your doing this - are you biting more than you can chew?
5: Only 4wd conversion in India ever done was by the Madans on their Evo - they have been into this for 20 years.

I hope it is yes to all the above, it is just that your plans are too good to be true.

well, ajmat, here are the replies...

1) i have had a few talks with a few people...
2) nope, i am not that experienced yet..... but i hope to be in a couple of years...
3)nonono...hehe....you see, my dad is the financier after all...but he's getting into cars, like me...
4) well i haven't worked on any conversions before, because i haven't had the time; i have to balance my passion with all sorts of other stuff, too....but, i have worked on some minor 4WD (not AWD) mods in my safari...and gypsy....
5)it is they, who have given me inspiration...but they have only been into rallying and tuning cars for the past 20 years- not doing 4WD conversion jobs....

well, now that the cat's out of the bag- do you remember the concept 'S'?? well, that has the swift's slightly "upgraded" platform, and the specs of the concept 'S' are thus....
in-line 4 cyl, 1.6 litre, naturally aspirated, 200 bhp, permanent AWD, six-speed sequential shift, 16" wheels....

as for my conversion, discount the six-speed sequential and some others....but, 4WD shouldn't be that controversial, as the original concept 'S' had an AWD, and the swift's platform is a direct derivative.... but, like i said, i shall first finish the work, and then show all you bhpians the final product.... let's hope i can do it.... and i sincerely hope i have all your support and blessings for the same...

nono..hehe...it's just that i want results first, instead of talks...

actually, no; the safari has a part-time 4WD, with a transfer case; the swift (like the evo, focus WRC) would have a full-time 4WD, or AWD. the AWD has no transfer box, or low range, like the safari/gypsy- only a set of couplings, a centre differential, a coulple of LSD's, etc. also, the rear axle in safari/gypsy, etc. are floating. the swift, like the evo, will have to accomodate a rigid or fixed rear axle, with exposed drive shafts....

well, maybe those people don't want to go that far on modding a swift, ice...hehe... but, a conversion is possible- i have asked around, and i have got some positive replies....

there are lots of people, who might want to get their lancers evo-kitted; but none might want to kit their swifts or getz's (ha..ha..); i guess i'm trying to do something different here...

yup, Mpower, you are right.....the rally-spec swift by suzuki, which is race ready, is a front wheel drive, with optional LSD's.... but they also have a AWD under development, i guess- the ignis had a 4WD platform from suzuki, too....

well, here's a link that might shed more light on suzuki's forthcoming 4WD swift- only i intend to do it earlier, he..he..

4WD suzuki swift

well, rallying with the modded swift might not be possible, because of two reasons-
a) my dad won't be that happy at the idea of thrashing around a million rupee swift;
b) i won't be eligible to enter in the rallies organised here in india, as they don't allow that sort of mods....

and no, i don't intend to race it against you..he..he.. with you, maybe....

well, i was estimating the time of delivery- could get it sooner too....the dealers have reported more bookings for the zxi than vxi or lxi....so, was just playing it safe with the delivery dates...

as for the colour, i booked metallic silver. i like that the most- most resistant to scratches and stuff, and also the most receptive to dual tones and paint jobs....

and yes, the deliveries have already begun, but not zxi variants- at least not in thane/mumbai region. zxi deliveries will start within a few days.... i saw a couple of swifts too- only 2, and both were being driven by youngsters, accessorised to the roof....
