As far stability is concerned i feel sedans are better off then SUVs due to firstly the SUVS like TATA SAFARIS wont reach that speeds with ease and secondly SUVS dont have sedan type aerodynamics and ground clearance to handle them better at those speeds. The high height does no good to handling.
i said in a straight line..... no sedan can match the "stable" feeling that you get in an SUV, in a straight line.... not to mention the "safety" feeling ......... and besides, we aren't talking about the handling, and i was talking about the safety feeling, and how well your car encourages you to push it...

as for the speeds, no SUV will rip like a sedan, so no point in going there- but given a highway, any SUV can fledge it's might; i myself have taken my safari to 160 kmph+ on the expressway-which is the only gift to people like us out here...... i've also taken an endeavour, but only upto 150- dunno why, but it seemed to run out of breath there, despite having a power advantage with respect to the safari..

Hats off to Maruti man. They are the only company in India taking a direct interest in promoting motorsports. (Another reason to hate Hyundai !)

true.... remember the good old himalyan rallies and popular rallies.... the only proper car rallies organized in times of yore....almost pioneered the TSD formats.... there were also no cars to race in, back then- the only rides being souped up esteems, 1000's, 800's, and those helluva gypsys.... maruti truly brought in car rallying in those days, with the FMSCI- now if only MAI would get better, discard all of it's internal politics, could we see some nice action..... and since mahindra organises the raiders, why can't hyundai, tata, etc. start doing something...????

And then Mod it crazily and beat the hell out of an RS

Endeavour is also underpowered car. its damn heavy and is bigger then even an Innova.

Maruit has taken a wrong step by hiking swift price but you get it at the intro price..LUCKY YOU..

Even I have the same feeling. Also I see lot of people (even who dont have plans for Swift) grudging against this move.

Woohhh, 12 pages so far?? Based on this the swift is going to be a bestseller. On a serious note, there is this bright red 3 door swift in my neighbourhood. I noticed that the rear seat seems a bit cramped.

now that got me going for a sec there....was thinking- 'how come there's a three door swift in india, when the 5 door has been just launched...' then it struck me- you are in paris, dude..!!!

well, thanks, again, montoya- i think i might be able to do that with my going-to-be modded-from hell swift itself......

well, yes- it's also the biggest SUV in india; and quite a lot of turbo lag, i might add- all of you might find this funny, but my "underpowered" safari beat the crap out of an endeavour, both of us going flat out on the expressway....

i feel the same way... but the way things are going, they might have to recall the price hike- as soon as the swift's price was increased, hyundai slashed the prices of it's santro by 20 K....!!!!

expect that sometime soon.... i have reasons to believe that it's on the cards- but hyundai has tried to play it smart by quoting " the sales of our Getz model has increased after the launch of the swift"..... let's wait and watch the bloodshed.....

Haha thats cause you were in the drivers seat of that safari.. but really that endeavour is slow and needs a bigger engine..

hahahaha.....

all the guys who are planning for a swift, (who haven't booked already, that is) i suggest waiting for a week or so, as maruti might roll back it's hike- if not, they will authorise the dealers to give discounts or freebies upto 10K worth....

Veyron

I have been observing but cannot hold back

1: Do you have the technical resources and knowhow to add 4wd
2: Do you have proven experience in tuning engines like Dominic, Iceman, Autopsyche
3: Decisions keep on going back to your father - is he experienced is car mods
4: Have not seen any prior experience of your doing this - are you biting more than you can chew?
5: Only 4wd conversion in India ever done was by the Madans on their Evo - they have been into this for 20 years.

I hope it is yes to all the above, it is just that your plans are too good to be true.
