And Ford employees are getting 30% off on the Figo petrol (all variants...) but not on the diesel... ford seems to have already enough bookings on the diesel for a sexy start

And lets see if the numbers are correct

cheers
Dude, 30% discount for employees?! I don't think so!

I checked out Figo this weekend at the showroom. My comments from the 5-minutes showroom visit:
  • The car is spacious inside
  • Exterior looks good.It looks like how it is in picture.
  • The Coral red dashboard is not bad as it looks in the pictures that are floating around.It is not bright red in color.A very subtle creamy color. It gels with the interior theme.
  • The interior fabrics look and feel good.
  • View from drivers seat is very good.Would be a good thing for city driving.
  • Build quality is decent.
  • The plastic on the door panel feel cheap. It is black in color and is okay lookwise. But it feels cheap when you knock it.

Been driving the Duratec for over 70,000 Kms mate, and I can assure you thats its not "that" noisy. We have 4 Fiestas in our group and all are petrol and so far no ones complained about the engine being noisy.
In case of the Figo, it may be that the car was in the showroom and it was really quiet hence the sound as you rightly said.

I read that the service cycle for the Figo is every 15000kms and the parts are built to last thru the life of the car(200,000 kms??). maintaining a Figo is supposed to be really affordable.

I checked out the Figo and polo back to back. the showrooms are next door to each other on Palace Road in Bangalore. The Figo has better space for the rear seats. Same sized boot as the polo. though it cannot hold a candel to the Polo plastic fit and finish in terms of quality. The pink interiors are terrible in the Figo. The front visiblity is great thought the seat does not feel tall.

This is interesting. Source of this info please? 15k service interval would be great.

I think, Ford got the inspiration for red interiors for green Figo (which is the introductory color) from Guava fruit.. So this color, even unconventional gives a more natural touch than gray, beige or black.

Noisy 1.6 Duratec? I'm surprised!

There were many times that I tried to start the car at traffic lights, only to find the key not moving----it was already on, and I could not even feel it as it was super silent. My pal who drove my 3-year old car had the same thing to say.

But at higher revs, it does make a sweet growl---the same kind of sound people pay money for by modding their cars.

Sorry for going OT.

@Sunil8089---that was a fantastic co-relation!

i was quite stunned but do not wanted to push for to many details

anyway a petrol is a big NO NO at current indian petrol prices and traffic conditions in chennai (freaking kills all ARAI figures...our optra feels sometimes like 5 kmpl.. )

I want my E Spark .. go GM go

@Sunil8089..........

IMO, they put that color to create a "point to generate a discussion" (there's a term for this phrase, I forgot it). People (whether they liked or not) will start discussing more and more about the car creating more interest.

Ford then played it safe...there is blacktop dash as an option.

My experience with Duratec has been with the Fusion which has fairly poor sound insulation. When I said 'noisy', I meant 'very prominent engine note'.

The Fusion has better noise insulation than the Fiesta and the engine growl or the noise as you might like to call it isn't loud enough to be talked about.

The engine roar/growl is felt only if revved above 3K RPM! The Duratec are much much refined & less noisy than the Rocam 1.6 engines. Parked at idle there is hardly any sound or vibration in the cabin from the 1.6 Duratec engines.
