re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Thanks for all the quick response. Have spoken to Lathangi and taking the car there by 3:30pm. The SA has indicated it may take 3 hours to investigate and fix. Will update once done.

This is what I love about this forum, one has quick answers and things can be taken care at the earliest! TBHP you rock

Not looking for sympathy here but rather guidance on how to go about it. The nincompoop just zoomed after crashing into me. Spineless cowards!

Hi There. Sorry to see your Figo in such a condition. These morons are on the rise and are increasing exponentially. This should not cost you much but can be repaired with ease. Speak to Pavan from Motomall to see if they can remove it by polishing it. I can PM you his number in case you do not have it.

By the way, got delivery of my Figo today. Car looks OK but not perfect. The bumper was misaligned and had to get it corrected. It looks 90% OK. The interiors are a mess. There is lots of dust inside the car. The seats have become brown due to it. Have to get it cleaned properly. The service costed me INR 7477 including the Reverse Parking Sensor. The Body Shop repair costed me INR 3491 which includes 50% of the headlamp cost.

Ford is seriously a great car but the service is not the best around especially coming from the Maruti world.

Call me if you need help in getting this fixed.

Thanks a lot for offering the details Maxwell Arthur, Are the exteriors fine? The SC people aren't the keep it clean types so the interiors are bound to get dirty. If you want to bring her back to near stock conditions, you can try 3M santhome(should be nearer to the place you reside in). Mr Sundar takes exceptional care towards jobs done. . I am currently thinking if i should wait till the first service or get it fixed outside, since there is a gap near the headlamp due to the dent. Irritating to say the least. To call that driver brainless is an understatement. Wonder how those guys even get their licenses.

I sure will. I thought Nungabakkam was the nearest. I spoke to Dhushi the other day who said prior appointment has to be fixed to get the car detailed. I am in two minds because if another incident(read accident) like this happens, I sure will stop driving the car around in the city. I will either use my bike for commute or use the public transport. You for sure know how it aches to see the car in bad condition and it hurts even more when you pay your hard earned money for no fault of yours. Anyway, All is well that ends well.

I agree Maxwell, but my brother has been instrumental in telling me that for a fact, you are much safer inside a car than a bike. Also, dents and scratches are a part and parcel of car ownership. The only problem being we love our cars too much to look at it just like another mode of transport. Shame on the guys who drive without basic license qualification. I mandate that the government must include an IQ level check while giving out licenses. Only in India is a License easier to get than a film ticket .

OT:
Do you know something, i was actually seriously contemplating on getting myself a dent repair kit with a nice felt mallet, hot air blower and paint thickness gauge and also a tube of touch up paint since i have been reading quite a load of stuff on dent removal and paint touch up. Couldn't try my hand at this since i dont want to take risks.

You are 100% right. I was thinking that I should be getting a dashboard camera for the Figo and the Santro. That way, you are at peace and you have the recording as proof.

You can probably try painting and tinkering on somebody's car and then try it on your own. After you acquire the skill, probably we can start a hi-fi paint booth . Just kidding.

Absolutely, alternate sources of income are welcome. Atleast it will help us in the upkeep of our set of wheels. .

I just mailed Pavan with the details. Hope he reverts back soon. Thanks again Maxwell Arthur

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

ArchAngel very sorry about the incident. but these types of incidents are inevitable. On a traffic jam, one guy took his cycle in his hand and started walking leaving his cycle marks on my hatch door on the very first week of my figo ownership.

Then Autos and Two-wheelers leave their marks on my bumper. I started ignoring minor scratches cos if we take it to our head it will spoil our mood.

Take it to 3M or some know body shop and fix it, it seems minor so no issues.

Guys, Me gona take my car to Chennai Ford Arumbakkam tomorrow as im hearing noise from the front left side while riding over rough patches. Could be issue with suspension, or something got loosen up. Will post my feedback after my visit.

Who would you recommend in Chennai ford. Need to get my 60 k service and bodywork under insurance. Not sure where to get it done. MPL does not have a body shop in Tenyampet.

Chennai ford Poonamalee 095-00-011121

I did my 60k servicing there. Quite a breeze and they were quite reasonable too. The SA was a knowledgeable chap and the mechanic knew what he was doing.

Gave my car with Chennai Ford Arumbakkam. I have the following complaints.
#1. Some noise (kinda grrr metal to metal sound) coming up from front left side while riding over rough patches.
#2. Some whistle kinda noise while applying brake (This is occasional, but happens daily morning)

The SA along with me went for a spin, and he accept the #1.
but as always happens with SC TD, #2 didn't happenned.
He asked me whether i water wash daily. I know the point and i dont wash my car daily, once in 2 weeks only and i do the washing myself. informed the same to SA. since the issue is not repro' SA doesn't botherred.

For #1, They want 2 days time and they can only ramp the car tomorrow for checking. they need to inspect suspension and it might take sunday to get my car deliverred. The car sitting idle/untouched today at workshop

Met one Mr. Henry (hehe not Henry Ford), He seems cooperative. lets see how it turns out.

I guess the Chennai Ford's body shop facility is available in Ambattur branch. I have my experience only in Chennai Ford, Arumbakkam. so far the experience is good.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

I have just given the Figo for 60K service. SA named Ganesh was polite. Body work is not done at Arumbakkam. was adviced to take it to the Poondamalee branch.
Estimate 7K without W/A and W/B.
Apparently all filters (fuel, air, A/C, oil, etc needs to be replaced at 60K.

Car back from service.
They have done a good job of cleaning the interiors.
Total cost 5643/- without W/A & W/B.
