Your reason for sale Prem? Upgrade, relocate, or the Storme?

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

All right, further update, after a long gap !

Went for 4yrs [60K] service last week and came with the following repair cost.
1) Suspension bushes, tie-joint [dont remember the exact name] and end-ball joint [or something].
2) Mineral Oil change and other filters, etc ... were on Silver AMC.
3) Total bill amount - 12K and odd. Dont know if its a normal costing over and above Silver AMC.

Further development. 2 days ago, Engine Temperature used to increase just in about 10 mins of drive and the gauge used to reach the half-way by then, radiator fan kicks off. All these were unusual as it used to take a minimum of 45 mins of drive for me earlier.
Over-night parking observation was that there was a leakage under the bonnet and it was radiator coolant [as expected].

Called the service guys y'day, they said the source of the leakage was "broken water pump", taken the beast to service station.
Got a call later in the day with an update of both Water pump and Timing belt needed to be replace. Wow! The estimate of 7K and odd.

I wanted the problem to be resolved and went ahead with it. Received the car last evening with all these fixed [hoping] along with a solid invoice

My immediate observation was that the temperature gauge was still reaching the half-way in about 10 mins drive, radiator fan was kicked in. I need to go down to check for any leakage though.
Later in the night [Sivarathri temple visit], took the car out, same observation on the temperature gauge, the fan kick off and a new problem - Headlight WOULDNT switch off even after I switch off the stock and NO, its not the "Follow me home" feature.
As it was getting late for my bhajan programme, took the spanner and loosened the battery terminal to get rid of headlight problem.
After my programme was over, reconnected the battery, cranked up the engine to find both 4H and 4L lights ON in the dash. Yes, both the 4H and 4L lights were ON all the while I drove back home [for about 8 KMs].

Nut-shell, for the first time, I felt like the TASS was ...

Any advice/suggestion ?

I have requested for a service pick up this morning to sort these out. I hope, I get my beast back in proper condition in a day or 2 without shelling more thousands !

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

Best solution is to find a local mechanic close to your house. Buy original parts from the TASS or supplier and get the job done locally. Its easier to monitor if the mechanic operates close to your house.
Ive observed that TASS only replaces, they dont know how to repair. Many times you can save a princely sum by just repairing something or a good fix outside of the TASS.

Your clutch plate looks like it still had some life left.

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

An update - Temperature update was sorted out. Infact, it was a false alarm that I created. No issues after that.
I consumed over 5000 KMs from my last update. All settled well. Going with peace now

The headlight issue was the relay problem and that was changed.
4H and 4L was again a false alarm. The ignition needed to be switched off and on once to get back to default, I believe, its to clear any residual ECU entries.

Another update - I would like to sell off my Safari provided I get a good price. Its up on our "classifieds". let me know if anyone interested.

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

There seem to be some puncture on 2 of my tyres, but the puncture guys are not able to fix them properly. I see that the air leaks away in about 2 weeks. I keep filling the air and running in.

Anyone has any recommendation for good tyre shop where they can analyse this problem properly ? possibly near Marathahalli / Kundanahalli area.

Get the valve pins tightened and then changed if required.

So the Dicor is no longer on sale ?

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

No,I decided to keep it as I bought a Reva e2o for home-office commute.
I have stopped munching miles on my beast but for weekends and that too become minimal these days :(

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

A quick update on my beast.
Having 71K on the ODO, I chose to change the tires last evening.
Against so much of confusion, went for Michelin LTX-AT [235/70/R16]. Changed only 4 tires and retained the better of the old one's as the spare.
My beast is due for a head bath, possibly tomorrow @ 3M nearby. Will take a few pics and share it across.

All these are to get ready for a ~2K KM's trip starting tomorrow !

Its been a while I took my beast out. Gearing towards the drive.

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant

Attaching pics.
I was planning to take it to 3M near Kundanahalli, but got to know it was moved to ORR [Marathahalli to KR Puram] and I didnt want to venture into the pathetic traffic before my long trip.
So, I gave him a head-bath !

Re: Tata Safari VX 4X4 - 2010 variant - running 76K on ODO

Dear All
Updates after a while. My beast is running @ 76K on ODO and looking good but for a few problems, listed below.

1) Driver side Power windows completely broken inside. KHT SA gave me a quotation of 5.5K to replace the motor, channel, etc ...

2) Roof line AC forming droplets of water much earlier [within 2 hours of AC usage] as it used to be around 4-5 hours usage in the initial days.

3) AC cooling is just not happening for few weeks/months. Just realised it when I went for a Chennai trip during Diwali. Heater is working good. Its only that Cooling effect is ZERO. I realised this problem only in Chennai during my Diwali trip. So, it was definitely NOT a usual Chennai/Sunny climate. Even then, I felt the need for better cooling.

By any chance, 2 and 3 are connected with the same source of problem ?

4) My stock fit Alpine DVD player is skipping a lot CD/DVD these days. Also, am feeling the need for BT, AUX and USB/SD Card off late.
I see only a few options that would fit all these requirement though none of these support DTS in DVD media !

Pioneer - https://pioneer-india.in/category/24/dvd-players/
JVC - http://www.jvc.net/me/car_audio/dvd_receiver/kd-dv5606/

Anyone has opinion about these head units OR better alternatives to be considered ?
I don't want to too much of money on it now even if its possible to fit in a touch panel like how the earlier STORME came out.
I am kind of forced to go for a DVD system since I have the display fit in the headrest [stock fit] and wants to make use of it though I have used only twice in my ~6 years of ownership

Thats all for now. Thanks and appreciate if someone responds based on their previous experience.
