Nice review, theMag. Good pics too.

The prices mentioned are ex-showroom Blore ?

What is the weight difference between LXi and VXi ? Not 43kgs as speculated, I guess.

It would have been nice if they offered a ZXi version with Airbags and ABS. Would have made a complete buy even if price was around 4lakhs. Is there any technical difficulty in equipping the Alto with airbags and ABS ?

I really really liked how this looks from front!

I think this is going to be the next best seller.

And GTO stole my thoughts: is this the next ZEN in the making? (may be after a few tweaks to the under-steer and gearbox)!

I like the fact that the tyres are upsized too! 155/65/R13 is a great spec!

Excellent, crisp review! Can't wait to TD this baby. ABT Maruti is only a couple of buildings away from where I sit, but don't know if the car is available there. It was not, yesterday.

165/65 r13 on alloys will make it a great handler.

OT: I always liked my santro for its great pickup, looks that my "like" will be shifted to this K10 or to do some ECU tuning of my santro.

liked the positioning-with the K10, "life is dhantenan"!

I notice stereo in one of the pics, does it come included in the Vxi model. Pls. share some more info about the gear shift assembly, is it not the same which they have in the New Wagon R.

Great Review Mahesh and I agree with Benny that the rear looks like a Spark.

The AK10 definitely looks like a successor to the legendary Zen. I just love it. I have already recommended this car to a colleague, who is looking to buy his first car.

TheMag, it's an excellent first account of the Alto K10. I guess this launch will cannibalize many offerings from Maruti's own stable. However, the greatest sufferer will be the Chevy Spark in my opinion. The Alto K10 trumps the Spark in every aspect except the number of cylinders.

excellent review Mag.
If i were to sum up the New K10 Alto in one line it would be "Performance for the Masses"

That's what I was wondering. This is the same size as the A-star maybe just a wee bit smaller.

Why would anyone pay almost a lakh more now for the A-star?

What is weight difference between this Alto and the A-star. That should be the main factor for the performance.

Maruti with this have basically cannibalized their A-star.

an excellent review and a perfect move by Maruti at a perfect time. Yes it sure is going to shake the numbers of spark and i10. Cant wait to test drive the new alto, can be a great diwali gift to my parents this year

just one question:
- Do this has a power loss while AC is switched on ?

Excellent review. Rated 5-stars.
I have a few questions;

1. Are the vibrations on the steering wheel and gear lever done with?
2. How do you compare the gear shift quality to Alto-800?
3. What about noise inside the cabin at higher speeds?
4. What about the luggage space? Is it identical to Alto 800?

Will it be possible to plant the new Instrument Console and Steering Wheel into the older Altos?
