Have they done away with the temperature gauge? I don't see it in the instrument console.

After reading the first drive report on zigwheels, I was waiting for the review since morning on TBHP. Must say TBHP are league ahead.
The lines on the bonnet of the k10 ALTO reminds me of Accent. The front looks good, though I feel, they stretched the rear too a bit. The rear looks incomplete and feels like it has abruptly ended when seen in cohesion with the front.
Like the figures of 67BHP, very close to my Ikon but at 3.16 lakhs ex-showroom, it's a steal.
Hope maruti improves the gear shift quality and the handling. For sure, another zen in the making.

Great Review Maggie. Especially loved the comparo pics vis-a-vis the old Alto.
Welcome change from Maruti to bring stonker of an engine into the Alto.

And like everyone said A truely affortable reincarnation of the pocket rocket Zen. Logically a newer version of the International Alto

THe significant things i like in the new vetrsion are
1) Excellent Engine
2) Decent three spoke steering.
3) Refreshign front end and rear treatment. IMHO way better than the Zen and Wagon R. Newer front fenders, bumpers ,Headlight , Taillight and Tailgate.
4) decent instrument console with the Tacho
5) Good to see front power windows in this segment car

Maruti have really pushed up the Ante in the small car segment.
If i were someone who drive alone to office or has a small family , this is the car i would pick for city usage.

TheMAG - nice review. The enthusiasm with which it was written is infectious!!

I did think you missed covering the following:

1. Effect of increased length. How is the rear seat space (with front seat pushed to avg seating position). A side-on photo would have helped (similar to what is shown in most other tbhp reviews).
2. Boot space? Has the increased length improved matters here?
3. NVH levels during city driving and spirited drives. Asking this, since its a 3-cyl engine.

Kudos for the superb pics and comparo with A800 !!

Any specifications on boot size?

From pics, it looks to be far better than Alto!

What is weight difference between this Alto and the A-star. That should be the main factor for the performance.

Maruti with this have basically cannibalized their A-star.
May be not.

The A-star Zxi with ABS and Airbags is still a nice option for young urban couples who value safety first.

Probably thats the reason why Alto K10 didn't come with ABS or Airbags even as an option!!!

Is the Alto 800 LXI and K10 LXI similar in features except for the engine and interior? What are the extras in VXI compared to K10 LXI?

Great pricing from Maruti. Looks a little like A-Star from the back. But, from an external view, not much to differntiate it from the 800CC car. I would have preferred it to look slightly different even at a slightly higher price. Apart from the badging ,i am not sure if there is something very distinctive that will separate these 2 cars out

Well the increased length is only due to the extended front bumper and front overhangs to accommodate the larger engine. The overall size is still the same apart from the elongated front.

Superb Review Mag The front end looks more aggressive than older 796 version. I am surprized to see the Rev counter - perfect.

I am loving this. I am so very much loving this.
