| Re: Civved : Wayanad Day 07 28th December 2012 Sultan Battery - Heritage Museum - RARS - Kaduvakuzhi - Sultan Battery Wayanad was all set up for HVK meet  The meet was at THDC, Wayanad   There was a mega convoy driving event with some 50 odd cars in the morning through some heavily planned circuit with the blessings of some higher ups in traffic and police departments. The meet was supposed to be from 18:00 hours and since we were early at THDC, decided to check out the club. THDC was all setup for the meet    PPGs quickly settled at the play area    May be inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean    Swimming pool   Kitchen!  continued... |

I gave the coupons to my family and asked them to be comfortable, while I joined HVK behind the scenes to help him with some presentations etc.. DBHPian Dhanush and HVK shares the podium  That's me and HVK sharing some words on our common passion - Travel  And that's Mathew uncle proudly showing of his Antarctica T shirt, he just returned from Antarctica expedition and he screened a few videos for HVK fans.  The meet and fun went on late into the night, by 22:00 hours I dropped my family back at the hotel and returned back to catch up on the stories behind the scenes. It was a fun filled night and by 02:00AM I had to call it a day since I had a long drive ahead of me. I was supposed to drive all the way to Goa from Wayanad  |

But we had a plan to visit Mahe on the way as a warmup before Goa. We decided to have lunch at Mahe and continue onwards. The other thing which we wanted was to see Kannur Engineering College at least from outside (sentiments for wifey) and to reach Goa by night. Total distances worked out to be around 650KMs for the day. Drive plan for Day 08  Sultan Battery - Varambetta Mosque (Padinjarethara ) around 46KMs Varambetta Mosque - Kuttiady around 41KMs Kuttiady - Nadapuram around 14KMs Nadapuram - Mahe around 24KMs Mahe - Thalassery around 10KMs Thalassery - Muzhuppilangadu Beach around 6KMs Muzhuppilangadu Beach - Kannur around 18KMs Kannur - Parassinikkadavu temple around 20KMs Plan till Parassinikkadavu temple (Kannur)  By the time we reached Parassinikkadavu temple it was already 20:00 hours. That was like just 180KMs of the 650KMS. We still have 470KMs remaining to Goa and dinner yet to be served  . Did we reach Goa for the night? Read on!continued... |

I bid bye to HVK Fan Club members and started the drive. Our first destination was Varambetta Mosque on our way out of Wayanad. Varambetta Mosque is near Padinjarethara. It dates back to around 300 years, and is the oldest Mosque in Wayanad. Some pictures of Varambetta Mosque       By the time we started from Varambetta it was 11:15 hours. Mahe, since it belonged to Pondichery the petrol rates were a bit lower around Rs 5 or so. I checked the time, it was already 15:00 hours and Goa seemed far, very very far. I started toying the idea of breaking the journey at Kannur for the night. Kannur was nearly 40KMs away. With that idea in mind, decided to check out Mahe before moving on. I always used to hear about the beauty of Mahe river (Mazzhazhi puzha) as part of Malayalam literature during my studies. What best time than now to see it in person. Could have been nice if it was late evening, but 15:00 hours is also just fine for now. continued... |

Everyone's energy level suddenly rose. Since Kannur was nearby we spent our evening at the beach waiting for sunset. It was a beautiful scene. Kids really enjoyed the shallow beach, and I enjoyed myself driving civvy over the splashing waves and doing some donuts and drifting. It was real fun!
