Even I was really surprised! One week of torrential rain can cause such a difference to the volume of water!

@ Ampere, yes that is quite unbelievable, but again nothing surprising, considering the way it was raining. Infact, had we come back via jog, even after a days rain, we would have seen a difference

@ Inder, the second pic of your daughter is amazing. She seems to be disgusted with you having broken her beauty nap

Yes. It would be worth the watch. But sometime you will feel bad when you are not able to get the good view of the falls.

We had been there around this time last year.

Do not plan, when you see / hear rain in that area, just start your trip. Hehehe.

@asdon --> The jog looks good when it rains cats & dogs.
But it will be at its BEST only when Linganamakki Reservoir gets full and the gates are open. When the gates are opened, the Raja, Roarer, Rocket, Lady, all merge into one as 1 huge waterfall!!! Thats when it would be at its best.
Again, Reservoir doesnt reach the brim every year.

Mr Don, please make sure you include me for any drives post Aug 15

So all the naughty boys ganged up on a poor zen.As soon as they said that, I knew that it had to be Mr Don's idea. Surjit,Brandon and Inder are too decent to do that.

It has nothing to do with photoshop. As I stated earlier, none of the pics posted have been PS'd.

All to do with the camera settings and only Picasa editor for lighting and soft focus

The night shots, especially at the sea, were achieved with a very low shutter speed (generally 4 seconds is the minimum, but in this case I think it was more, will ask my wife as she took them) and a wide apperture, to let in as much light as possible.

Despite using my tripod, the wind was too strong to get a stable shot.

Have taken some excellent pics around my apartment at night though from the balcony. You may almost say its evening time around 0600, despite taking them at around 9-10 o clock

Re: 2 Days, 24 Hours on the Road, Bangalore to Gokarna

Guys I am planning a road trip with my friends from Bangalore to Gokarna on 1st-4th May in a Vento.
Can you please suggest a good route for a relaxed drive? We have allocated one full day for the drive.
I read about a Bang-Hubli-Ankola-Gokarna route. Can someone let me know if the roads are good currently? Info from members who traveled recently on this route will be invaluable.

Mods : I am not sure where to post this query. If this is an inappropriate thread kindly move/point me to the correct thread.

@rajathhv8 I'm also planning a gokarna trip on the same days. But we'll be taking the shimoga route mostly. I heard its more scenic and nice to drive. Not sure about the Hubli route.

The Hubli route also happens to be the route for south Goa and Karwar so I can confirm road conditions are good upto Honnavar but not sure beyond that to gokarna.
Route is Bangalore - tumkur - chitradurga - davanagere - hubli. Before you enter Hubli town you will see a tollplaza with left turn marked for karwar. Take that (nh 63) all the way till ankola where you will hit nh 17. Here turn left towards Honnavara and then proceed to gokarna. 4 laned nh 4 till Hubli then excellent 2 laned road up to ankola and the nh 17 section to honnavar is good too.
Alternatively you can take nh 206 from tumkur and go via Arsikere, shimoga, sagar and reach honnavara where you will hit nh 17. Roads are good on this route as well but all 2 laned.
Maybe you can do one route onward and the other on return journey.

Re: 2 Days, 24 Hours on the Road, Bangalore to Gokarna

Thanks for the info NPV!

Here are my options :

Route 1:
a. Blore Hubli - 410 Km on NH 4 - good condition 4 lane
b. Hubli Ankola - 141 Km on NH 63 - good condition 2 lane
c. Ankola Gokarna - 26 Km on NH 17 - good condition 2 lane
Total : ~570Km

Route 2:

a. Blore Haveri - 339 Km on NH 4 - good condition 4 lane
b. Haveri Kumta - SH 2 and NH 69 - Condition unknown
c. Kumta Gokarna - NH 17 - good condition 2 lane
Total : ~490Km

Can someone please shed light on the current condition of "Hubli Kumta - SH 2 and NH 69" route?
