That's a awesome place to spend. I will try to find some pics of my trip on that and post it.
The accomodation and other activities are run by a couple and they have their office in Rajajinagar. I can get you the contact numbers, if you want.

I will for sure check this place, and I think there are many places like this in the Saravati river vally still unexplored. It will be a dream holiday if we can gather in on of the jungle and river side in camps and treck the hills

Asdon, please do the honours again. Would we be taking the same route for this trip as well

I checked the link that was posted above, seems to be quite inviting. But, almost bare living conditions. They said there is no loo.

Hope there is one now. And if we go by bus or etc, do we still have to get down about 12 KMS before the place and then take a jeep

As mentioned earlier this place is run by the couple. They charge Rs.1000 for 2 days and 1 night stay. They have very very basic facility. In fact for water you need to take it from a well directly. Last i visited was i think in 2008 and just at that time, they had built couple of toilets.
Basically the activities you can do over there is a lot of swimming on the backwaters, coracle ride, etc. If there is no rain, then they take you to a island on the backwaters and put up tent and stay overnight. The next day early morning they will take you for a small trek.
Food is also very basic. Most importantly, they do not allow littering, no smoking, no alcohol. They are very strict on this.
Best time to go here is Feb to May. It would be hot and you can enjoy the water a lot. We had been mid of June and we could not camp on the island as it started raining.
During rainy season, there will be lot of leeches. And also during rainy season, there are slim chances of you enjoying the waters because the water tend to rise very quickly if there is heavy rainfall in the catchment areas and it would be cold also.
To reach there, you need to reach Talaguppa, from Talaguppa, you can trek or take a jeep.
You might have noticed Talaguppa on your way to Jog, this village is just after Sagar city.

Awesome place.

Still one more doubt. When you say we have to take a jeep, is it mandatory, in the sence is it accessible only by SUVs and not advisable to go by a sedan / hatch. As some of us may have in mind

I know another place, thats near Karwar, its an Island in Arabian sea, arrangements are all most similar to Nagarahole. you can drive down till sea, and park your car in the office, and then take a boat to the place and stay there for 2 days one night, camp fire, soft/ hard drinks, and all other stuffs are allowed there. I am checking for the link, will post that.

got it http://www.nivalink.com/karwar/index.html
