Re: MRF Z.L.O Performance Tyres

I have been using ZLo for more than 13000 kms now. My question is- it it ok if i change my steel rims with alloys without changing the tyres?

Re: MRF Z.L.O Performance Tyres

Has MRF reduced the production of ZLO's? I checked at a few outlets in my town and none of them have stock or even want to bring down tyres against a firm order. Looking for 195/60-14. I Guess i need to look harder!

As long as your radius remains same, it's ok!

I ordered for a set 4-6 weeks back. Though they (MRF dealer, but NOT MRF Exclusive) didn't have any stocks, they placed an order and got it within a week. The first order was accidentally sold to someone, so I had to wait further to get a set for myself. But it did come in 2-3 days.

Did you search in MRF exclusive outlets or the ones dealing with multiple brands? When I enquired, except for a big shop, all had either stocks or they said they could get it for me. This one shop was reluctant to give me a confirmation as to when will they get a stock; unfortunately they were ones who gave me the BEST quote too!

The MRF Exclusive dealers gave me the worst quotes too; all of them!

I finally managed to get a set at an exclusive mrf dealership thats owned by a chap in my neighborhood! Just fixed the tyres about 2hrs ago. Costed 4.1k a pop for 195/60-14 which i guess is a good deal!!

I drove back around 3kms and the first thing i noticed was the body roll! It will take time getting used to that as the AD07's hardly caused any body-roll. But i did notice the noise from the front suspension reduced a bit although the tyres are running 32psi all-round!

Cheers!

P.S. the car in question is a baleno with Koni's!

Seems like a good deal. I paid Rs. 3800/- for a pop for 185/70 R14

Freak! Pretty much my state then! I had Potenza GIIIs before and Z.L.Os though less noisy definitely have body roll. Now I realise how stable the GIIIs were! I can't do anything but wait for this to wear out.

Edit::

Is there any performance tyres which are less noisy & offer less bodyroll? I have a Swift & I loved sweeping thru the curves with lot of stability! Half of the fun is gone now, though the tyres stick to the road well!

Re: Suitable Tyre for Ertiga ZDi

Want to change the stock 185/65 R15 MRF ZVTV to something that gives plush ride.

Usage would be 50% City - 40% Highway - 10% rural / hilly roads (occasional visits to the hills once a year).

Have used Michelin XM1+ on my Swift VDi. Hence am more eager for a plush ride and cruising. Am not expecting the Ertiga to be so much a dirver's car as the Swift D. So driving will be more composed and comfort oriented.

Was planning between the following:
  1. MRF ZLO
  2. Yokohama C Drive
  3. Yokohama AVS Decibel
  4. Michelin PLC

Michelin XM2 would have been good but its not available in Kolkata now. Called atleast 4 stores and each seem to have 1 or 2 piece.

Can you suggest which will suit my requirement and Ertiga ZDi perfectly?

Thanks
Ranendra
For our Ertiga ZDi, i changed the stock MRF 185/65/15 to Yokohoma A Drives195/65/15. Good ride comfort, gain of 4mm Ground Clearance as well.

Re: MRF Z.L.O Performance Tyres

Already went ahead with Yoko AVS Decibel V550 195/60 R15.

The ride is pretty quite and composed I should say. The tyre shop had filled Nitrogen @33 psi both front and rear which in my opinion seems a bit too high.

What would be the recommended pressure for 195/60 R15?

Regards
Ranendra

Re: MRF Z.L.O Performance Tyres

<<Reposting update from another thread>>

Finally, after a lot of thinking and research, instead of the MRF ZLO, I got the Yokohama ES100 (195/60/15) for the Punto.

Grip - superb. Car feels much more planted. Braking effectiveness increased tremendously. The tyres are supposed to have even better grip on wet surfaces (not tested yet).

Stability - car feels much more stable and handles better. Tried a couple of acute turns at moderately high speed, supremely stable.

Noise - the thread pattern being V shaped, these are not very silent at high speeds, but tyre noise was never a criteria for me.

Longetivity - might not last as long as my Goodyear GT3's lasted.

VFM - at Rs. 4,800/- per tyre, I feel it's a great product. Got a puncture repair kit complimentary from the dealer

Time to change the Tyres in My Silver Streak Linea.
As already decided, Plan to go for MRF ZLO 195/60/15. Already have MRF ZLO in my Stephny.
Just my friend has checked with Lal Tyres, Chennai.

Tyre cost - Rs. 4500 (4500*4) = 18000
Wheel Alignment - Rs. 400
Wheel Balancing - Rs. 800 (4 wheels)
Total - Rs.19200

They will give out something for older tyres once it's removed from the alloys.

Guys, Is it a Good Deal as I haven't enquired with other shops in Chennai.

I paid 4900/- in Bangalore for the 195/60/15 ZLO tyres 3 weeks ago.

How come the prices are so low in Chennai ? Is is because MRF is chennai based ?

No I paid for the alignment and balancing. These are the exact prices I paid as per the bill :

19,400/- for 4 tyres ( Rs 4850/- per tyre )

950/- for alignment , balancing and nitrogen.

400/- buyback for the 4 old tyres.

Tubeless valves were free of cost.

So final price was 19400 + 950 - 400 = 19950/-

I purchased from Madhus. I don't think that Bangalore prices will as low as 4500/- even in other shops.

I got from DIZ tyres (MRG ex dealer) at bangalore @ Rs 4800. That is the least I have heard at Bangalore. Rs 200 per wheel for balancing looks high. I pay max. of Rs 100 per wheel.
