Initially i thought the problem is with alloys but when i mounted michelin PP1 195/60-14 on stock rims, the problem still exists. I talked to my tyre dealer and he said that he will talk to michelin.

He gave me another option to go for some other tire+alloy as he will buy back my existing set i.e 4 alloys and 5 michelin PP1 (5th is mounted on stock wheel). I have clocked 2000 KM on michelins.

He suggested me Maxxis MA-Z1 Victra 205/50-15 in 15 inchers (he does not have 195/50-15 which i asked). The tyres cost 4300. How are maxxis? or shall i buy 195/50-15 yokohama S drive? which cost almost same?
You better go for Bridgestone GIII . They say its good. Why dont you try Goodyear Assurance ? I am going to fit alloys next week dude with stock tires.

Hi,

I had 205/55/R15 Yokohama S Drive's and alloys on my Swift and that resulted in awesome handling. Now that I have moved on to the Getz rocket hatch, I do need bigger footwear.

I was looking at 15" alloys and 205/50/15 size rubber again S drives but got suggestions that this might be just too big for the Getz.

Question: Do I go in 15" alloys? if yes, then what are the pitfalls that I have to live with? I know the pro's as I am used to 205's on my Swift but wanted to know the con's.

Should I got for 14" alloys? then please help me identify the right rubber will it have to be 195/60/14 or are 205's available for 14", which brand and will I get 205 S Drives on 14 inchers? again what will be the con's of 205's on 14" wheels? or should I stick to 195's. HELP !!!

Try 195/55 R15, better upsize for the Getz.

iraghava, according to car bible the difference in circumference exceeds 2% for this size of tyres!!!. Will 205/55/R15 which gives a difference of 0.5% be a better bet and the question I have is will the tyres protrude out a lot and hit the wheel arches if I go for the 205's?

The OD difference is 2.1% compared to the stock size of 175/65 R14 which is within tolerance. And I've seen 205's on a Getz but looking at them I think there is a high possibility that the rear tyres will scrape with the arches under load/on bumps.

I have 205/50/15 PP2s on my Getz CRDi. No such problem. I have covered 4500+kms till date.

While getting 195/55-15 or 205s for Getz, keep the alloy offset factor in mind.
A little variation in offset can cause tire scrapping.

Hmmm Thanks vabs, yeh our alloys look quite similar but with a small diff in detail, mine has 5 set of spokes (total 10) to your 6 (12) but the design does look the same

Help required for 195/60/R14 for Getz

Hello Ishaan and other tyre experts,

I have booked the Getz 1.3 GLX today and delivery should be done next Sat or Sunday [30.11].

I prefer to keep the alloys that come in the GLX and IMO, they look quite nice too [not thin and skinny]..

After going through all the pages and posts in this thread, I had decided [nearly] on getting the Michelin XM1+ [hope i got that right] on size 195/60/R14 [since glx alloys are 5.5J width]. But on the last few pages, I also read about PP1 of the same size and...

Now, I'm confused and thus, this post and request.

Can someone please help with the differences between XM1+ and PP1 [apart from written facts that PP1 is for performance which i read too], in terms of...

1. Ride Quality
2. Low or nil road noise
3. Excellent grip in wet and dry
4. Good for long distance drives [not interested in qtrmile runs or timings, but will do decent cruising speeds]
5. Durability - lasting somewhere near 40k is wished for but atleast more than 30k ~ 35K required.

Lastly, if one can post the best price for both tyres in B'lore, it will be very helpful.

Thanks all.. aK
