A mix of both - good grip & braking, without making it too hard to enjoy a cruise... I would be doing long drives (Chennai to Kanyakumari / Banglore / Cochin, etc), and would need performance while not tiring me down.

Thanks Elito. I think I would be deciding between that and a 15" upsize.

any idea about the rates of tyres

Michenlin XM1+ 195/14/60 and 185/14/65 or 60
Bridgestone Potenza GIII 185/14/65 or 60
Good Year EAGLE F1 GSD2 185/14/60 and 195/14/60 (i love the design but heard it's not good and afraid will fit in 5J rims)

No plans for alloys that is big issue for me.
Tyre selection is restricted to 5J rims.

185/60-14
Yoko A drive - 3250/tire
Michelin XM1+ - 3500/tire
GIIIs should be around 3400

Go for 185/60-14 Michelin XM1+.

KP,
I have mounted 195/60-14 Michelin PP1 on spare steel wheel which is 5J (as told by you). Is it ok or shall i change it back to 175/65-14 stock tire?

No issues..Leave the spare tire on 5j rims itself.
My cousin is running with 195s on stock rims...No problems till now..

@aks - don't even go near the Goodyear Eagle F1s.
They are one of the worst tyres that we have ever bought.
If you like the design, there are many more tyres available in the market with a similar design.

Ideal tyre size for Getz

Hi

I have a Getz GLX 1.3 petrol. I want to upgrade from the factory fitted 175/70 R13 alloys & tyres to a 195/50 R15 set of 5. Is this the ideal ratio?

What the best company makes I should go for ? My budget is up to 20 thousand.

Will there be any hit in performance. I am told putting 17 inch alloys severely affects pickup/performance. Is this the same for 15 inch alloys as well? I'm not so concerned about the extra fuel it might burn but just curious as to how much it will affect.

Since I am going for a set of 5, I am a little worried about the spare 15 inch alloy and tyre not fitting in the space allotted to it in the boot. Has any one with the specifications I mentioned above had that problem in the getz?

How do I test after the fittings that the wheels have put aligned/balanced properly and that there is no extra load or wearing out on a particualr tyre.

Is there anything else I need to watch out for?

Thanks.

well ideally +1 scheme is applied in case of an upgrade. but as u want to go from 175/70/13-195/50/15, the mathematics you have applied is right, but this will have marked affect on ride, it will deteriorate, handling would improve, braking will also improve, fuel consumption will inc.& suspension will get worn out sooner.
performance tyres from bridgestone- g3 potenza, michelin -pilot preceda & yokohoma- advan sport are good . each tyre costs around 4000-5000/rs.
17" would mean frequent visits to garage.

I think 14 inchers would be good too.
195/60 R14 could be a good upsize

Daemon - 195/50 R15 is indeed the correct size for your car so you can go ahead with it. but you will not be able to buy both the tyres & the wheels in that budget. You would need to up your budget to around 35k-40k at least to but that tyre size & wheels.

There are lots of options available in that size including Michelin PP2, Yokohama S-Drives etc.

Michelin PP or Yoko S.drive Dilemna : Tyres for Getz Crdi

Hi Guys,

Moderators, I have almost read all the threads on tires for Getz and specifically these two tires and still the following doubts remains. Please allow me to open this thread. Thanks.

Just about to get the delivery of my getz crdi. Will straight away go for the tire change. Please suggest on the following.

Size for PPs - 195/60-14 (PP2 not available in that size)
Size for S.drives - 205/50-15 (not available in 60 profile so 14" is out)
Not considering PP2s in 205/50-15 as they are atleast 1.2-1.3K expensive then S.drives

I had previously used ES100 and was not entirely satisfied. Too soft and very noisy, although grip was fantastic.

My Requirements ---
1. Need a sports tire (to tame the 24kgm torque)
2. Decently comfortable
3. Decent life (40K kms)
4. Low road noise (Fed up with noise of ES100)
5. Lots of highway traveling - Hard sidewall (ES100 were too soft and I had sidewalls cut in 2 tires)

So out of S.drives and PP1 in the respective sizes.
1. Which is grippier (both in dry and wet)
2. Which will last long ?
3. Which is more comfortable ?
4. Which has less road noise ?
5. Which has tougher sidewalls ? (Very important criteria as cut sidewalls cost dearly to replace with a new tire)

Also, is there a size in S.drive in 14" for Getz.

Waiting for replys.

1. PP
2. Equal
3. S-Drives
4. Equal
5. Equal

Remember, both tyres will be noisy on rough/cemented roads.

I'm more inclined towards 14" (Good compromise between ride and handling I feel)

I'll go for the alloys as well. And that's what I've no clue about.

Since S-drives are not available in 14", I guess its better to check PPs in 195/60-14.

How do you think the deal for PP is @ Rs 3600 apiece and exchange price of Rs 2000/- per tire for stock tires

Same dealer quoted Rs 11K for a set of 4 alloys of Stallion (14"x6" in HS). Have you guys heard about the brand.
