Finally bit the bullet - got Plati (the ones that are in this picture http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...tml#post536154) for 9500(Set of 4) and Yokohama A-drive (165/65) for 2400 each.

I had a very professional job done by Driven (at East of Kailash, Delhi) who delivered the car to my home with all documentation and everything + a free can of Tyre spray. He also called me up to say that I'm getting a Laptop bag + tyre spanner for free as part of the free gifts.

Sid
A539 is only available in limited sizes.
165/60-12
175/60-13
185/60-13.

If it was available in 165/65-13 I would have been the first one to buy them.

I think it was the 165/60/12 then. And the grip is amazing on the turns plus my steering has become considerably lighter compared to when the car was on potenzas.

thanx for suggesting such a brilliant tyre ... i'm loving it

So from what I could understand the following are the choices ( in order of recommendation):

Yokohama A 539 165/65/12
Michelin XM1 165/65/13
Bridgestone Turanza 165/65/13

Am I correct? Can anyone guide me to a good Yokohama dealer in the Mumbai suburbs (Malad, Goregaon, etc). I am planning to upgrade from my Apollo Amazer XLs which have served me faithfully for 48000 Kms in my 2004 Santro XS.

Thanks!

Hi kpzen - Checked on the Yokohama AU website ( could not find an India specific site) and in 165, only the following ones were available:

165/70/R13

Will this be a safe upgrade for the Santro? - Currently running on Apollo Amazer 165/65/13.

Mumbai T Bhpians - any Yokohama dealers in Mumbai???

Most tyre wallahs can procure Yokohmas in Mumbai. But im not sure of an authentic Yokohama dealer here. Check thier website to see the authorised dealers.

Don't go by the Yoko Australia site. 165/65 R13 is indeed available in A-Drive in our market officially.

I believe Saifee Tyres is a dealer recommended by many & he's an authorised Yoko/Michelin dealer too.

I am just thinking over to move to alloys and upsize the tyres of my santro xing. (Stock 155/70 -13 )

I have no clue how the sizes are measured or interpreted. Can someone explain it please. Searched the aura website and found the sizes in inches so couldn't really correlate to the stock size .

Can someone enlighten me with the explanation, the right upsize and the cost for alloys and tyres.

Also any dealer referrals in chennai will be much appreciated.

Mission Supari - Here's the basic interpretation of the stock size (155/70 R13):

155 - Tyre width in mm
70 - Tyre profile in % of tyre width so 70 % of 155 is 108.5mm. This is also referred to as sidewall height.
R13 - Denotes the rim size. Keep in mind that you need to have the same rim size on the tyre and the alloy. You cannot mount a 13" tyre on a 14" alloy & vice-versa.

Now for the Santro, the perfect upsize is 165/65 R13. For more on upsizing, read here: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...-your-car.html (READ FIRST: Choosing The Right Set Of Tyres for your Car)

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ishan. My bad. I missed that thread while i searched for santro xing in the tyres and alloy section. Can you also give me a rough idea on the cost of the alloys and tyres upgrade.

OT: My mission is certainly not for the supari . Searching for the person who originally started the supari-safari part. Guess it was headers or supreme-baleno.
