205/55/15 wouldn't be overkill considering the power/engine of the car ?
New polo is coming with apollo alnac - 185/60/15.
Which is better c drive or db series or zolo ?
I read the thread - some opinion are like 195/60 not make much difference.
so many options/brands available, not able to decide.
Any help would be really appreciate.

Why upgrade? The Stock Alnacs are good enough.

Dont waste good money changing from Apollo. It's just a mindset that people have that all OEM tyres or all Indian tyres are bad. That is not the case.

The Vento/Rapid/Polo is my least favourite car but I will admit that the tyres are pretty much the best OEM tyres you can get south of 20 lakhs.

Stock tyres not providing enough grip & steering is a bit light so thinking to upsize the tyre so that problems will be sort of

Difference is marginal. Not worth the extra money

205/55-15 will make a noticeable difference but is it needed? I know many enthusiastic drivers using 195/60-15 on the GT TDI and are very happy! They dont need more grip!

205/65-15 is definitely the wrong size.

Not Sport But Comfort Tyres For VW Polo

Hi guys,
Going through a lot of threads on the forum i came across recommendations for sport tyres only, though i am looking for the maximum comfort in my car, need your opinion on the BEST comfort tyres in the following sizes available in india.
195/60/15
185/65/15

I have driven a friends rapid on Yokohama A drives and personally i found my apollo stocks better than these. I found the Yokohama AVS DB to be a premium comfort tyre on its website, but could not find reviews for it. A bit confused between these few brands - Yokohama, Michelin, Falken, Vredestein, Continental and Bridgestone.

Which brand to go for and which specific tyre in that particular brand.
The car is volkswagen polo with stock alloys.
Thanks in advance.

If you are asking for comfort in the sizes you mentioned , then its Michelin P3ST. This one has good feedback with respect to ride comfort, noise and handling capabilities. Michelin can be considered.

Im using XM2+ in the size 195/60-15 on my vento. These offer a little more mileage ( about 5K - 8K Kms ) than P3ST but a negligible discount ( less Rs. 300/- per tyre than P3ST ).

I opted for these are my dealer said these have slightly better side walls than P3ST.

re: Volkswagen Vento : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Alright, i have zeroed down to the following tyres.

1. Continental Premium Contact 2 - 205/55/15
2. Michelin Primacy 3ST - 195/60/15
3. Yokohama AVS DB - 195/60/15

Out of these three tyres which one is the best purely in terms of comfort.

Forget the yokohama.

P3ST and CPC2 is another great choice. CPC2 being a little expensive that P3St. unfortunately, I may not be able to give a proper feedback among these two as I have no experience on CPC2 . can you refer the threads as Im sure there are a few comparisions between the two.

I would still prefer the 195-60/15 on the polo. However, there are many who have upgraded to 205s.

you take guidance from Nikhilb2008 on tyres. you will be able to guide you better.

Good luck !

How's the FE with the tyre upgrade to 205 and any issue with hitting the wheel arches insides when doing a full lock turn? Do they stay within the wheel arches?

Thanks,

1-2 km/lt down as compared to stock. Haven't encountered any issues though after covering 10K+ on these now. But yes side walls are soft, had one cut last week, though my guy did repaired it which saved 6k + on new one. I would say go with 195 as my cousin driving with same and he already covered 50K on it still going strong.

I can recommend Vredestein Sportrac5. Am already running them in my Laura and very happy with the comfort and low noise. Am planning to get the same for my to-be-delivered GT TSI

Of the 3 choices, I would recommend the Michelin Primacy 3ST.
Also, just that you know... if you're looking to replace your wheels, 205/55R16s fit the Polo without any issues and is the standard size for quite a few cars.

re: Volkswagen Vento : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

during yesterday's visit to the tyre dealer i found out there are now quite a few choices for the vento @ 205 55 15

1. S Drives
2. Apollo Accelere
3. Hankook V8 RS
4. MRF Zlo
5. MRF Z Sport
6. Dunlop Accelera
7. Kenda Komet

Was wondering which among the above would be the best for preference in this order....

Road noise
Comfort
Grip
Handling & Braking.

Thanks
