That's a neat idea, maybe Stanher is more qualified to take the liberty though

The Europeans did publish a book called the guide to Indian Lambrettas or something like that.

And the last edition also included a small contribution by a non-European named yours truly!

The book can be ordered here:

So how many people remember this attempt by Bajaj at a people's car?

Indian built/assembled classics-1.jpg

I used to see this car on the roads on Pune very regularly till a couple of years ago. Im glad it is still on the road. It is a metallic maroon shade. I also used to see one in metallic blue and one in metallic green, also MZA regd. I wonder if the three cars were this same one repainted.

The Vikram has roots from the lambretta Innocenti three wheeler ! It is made by Scooters India a Govt of India company which brought us the Vijay scooter. Vijay originated by the Innocenti plant being purchased by Scooters India to manufacture scooters based on the Lambretta GP and the Innocenti 3 wheelers.

I'm no doubt replying to a very old post here, but nonetheless relevant to the question asked!

Here's a surviving example just bought by a dealer here that I saw today.

Incidentally, he says these are powered by lambretta engines!!

I wasn't able to open the rear hatch for pics. of the engine (it's shut with a nut and bolt!) but the carb. sure looked like a lamby's to me.

This, however is a 2-door Badal, and I know of only one other, which I used to see junking away in a street years ago, until it disappeared one day.

Wow, I never thought I'd see one in this condition ever. Very exciting indeed! Would it be for sale?
