Thats a lovely detailed period picture, thanks. If you look closely you can see the gear shift recommendation sticker on the driver's side of the windscreen.

BRT is suppose to be Bihar registered car, either Ranchi OR Jamshedpur. I hav a BRT 3811 number 1956 Fiat.

I assume BRT was for Tatanagar, later Jamshedpur. Subject to correction.

@karlosdeville : That's interesting! - So what did this sticker have? A guide to the speed vs Gear?

About the location; I was reaching out to a few people who were connected, after I saw your responses. Looks like all we know is : The owner was posted in many places in the East. Finally settled in Bhubaneswar.

Jamshepur & Tatanagar are always synonymous with each other.
To best of my knowledge Tatanagar (Junction) is used for Railway station only & the city is addressed as Jamshedpur.
Historically its old name is KALIMATI. Hope no politician is reading this.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Here is a picture from somebody's family albums forwarded to us for identification. It appears to be an American tourer of the late 1920s/early 1930s I guess. Note the wooden wheels. The 'X' registration implies this probably shot before 1939.

I would say it could be DeSoto or Plymouth, unlikely to be Dodge. Another possibility could be Hudson, Essex or Erskine. What say?

Looks like a late twenties to early thirties Nash tourer, either way a very nice imposing car

That's clearly an Essex (Super Six?) of the period mentioned by you - www for exact vintage. The hexagonal logo precludes Hudson, whose was triangular.

The first pic. looks like its from the South, if the 'X' series ever existed here. Could this be the same Essex restored/owned by Mr. C S Ananth?

The picture was probably shot in Bombay, pre 1939. I haven't seen 'X' series elsewhere, but never say never.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

This car once belonged to the reputed business in the background (Prabath Automobiles) at Afzal Gunj, Hyderabad-Deccan, but no longer with them...Late 20's or early 30's?
