Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Recently Karl shared an article which appeared in the Hindu, with me.

Find it here

I wrote to the author, wondering if she has any more pictures, and got a prompt reply.

Here are some more pictures

Picture credit : The Hindu MetroPlus and the author Ms. Nahla Nainar (many thanks for the permission to share)

At first all I knew was International harvester Metro van from same era as a friend has a scale model. But upon comparing, I had to use google search to find out the actual one.

The pic seems to be from the 1960's or late 50's looking at the car's parked in the pic.

The caption says Mekedatu which is about a 100 KM from Bangalore after the confluence of the two Cauvery and Arakavati rivers.

The vehicle must have crossed the dry/shallow river bed to make it there.

Somehow I'd imagine it must have been far more exciting (an adventurous) to make a 100 km trip in a vehicle/car 60 years back on those non-existent roads compared to these days where everything feels routine and boring.
