Ather 450X gets a massive price hike of Rs 30,000

The Ather 450X now costs Rs 1.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi, including FAME-II subsidy)

Ather Energy has increased the prices of the 450X electric scooter by more than Rs 30,000. The latest price hike comes after the government announced a cut in subsidies offered under the FAME-II initiative.

The price of the Ather 450X has gone up from Rs 1,16,379 to Rs 1,46,664, a hike of Rs 30,285. The 450X with the 'Pro Pack' is priced at Rs 1,67,178, up from Rs 1,46,743, amounting to a hike of Rs 20,435. Note that these are ex-showroom Delhi prices, including the FAME-II subsidy, but do not include state subsidy.

Ola Electric has also been affected by the subsidy cut. Prices have gone by up to Rs 15,000, with the S1 costing Rs 1.30 lakh and the S1 Pro priced at Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Last month, the government revised the formula for calculating subsidies for electric 2-wheelers. As per the revised formula, the existing subsidy of Rs 15,000 per kWh has been reduced to Rs 10,000 per kWh. The maximum cap on subsidy has also been reduced from 40% to 15% of MRP.
