Maruti sales in March fall 47.4%

Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 76,240 passenger vehicles in the month of March 2020. This indicates a fall of 47.4% compared to March 2019.

In terms of segments, the mini and compact segment, which includes the likes of the Alto, S-Presso, WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S, fell by 43.1%. Ciaz sales fell by 49.3% while the sales of the vans (Eeco + Omni) fell by 63.7% to 5,966 units.

Apart from the domestic sales, the export units supplied to other markets fell to 4,712 units from 10,464 back in March 2019 - a fall of 55%. Super Carry LCV sales fell by 71.5% as well.

Maruti Suzuki has also released its financial year ending numbers. In the period of 2019-2020, it sold 15,63,297 units including the local market, commercial vehicles, supply to other OEMs and exports. These figures were lower by 16.1% compared to the sales in the 2018-19 period.
