MG's mass-market EV for India christened 'Comet'

The MG Comet EV is based on the Wuling Air EV. It is expected to compete with the Tata Tiago EV.

MG Motor India has announced the name of its mass-market EV. The new small EV will be called 'Comet', after the 1934 British aeroplane which participated in the England-Australia MacRobertson Air Race.

The MG Comet EV is based on the Wuling Air EV. It’s a 2-door small car featuring a tall boy body style. It has dual projector headlamps and a charging port positioned in the centre of the front fascia. The car also gets LED daytime running lights with an LED light bar, vertical tail lights and an LED light bar at the rear.

Inside, the MG Comet will get dual screens with the infotainment system in the centre and a digital instrument cluster.

The Wuling Air sold globally is offered with two battery options: 17.3 kWh with 200 km of range and a 26.7 kWh battery offering 300 km of range. Technical details of the Indian version are still unknown.
