New F1-based movie to film alongside race weekends

Sir Lewis Hamilton will also be assisting in the movie's production to ensure the script is as close to the real sport as possible.

A new Formula 1-based movie with Brad Pitt in the lead role is in the works. The filming for the upcoming yet-to-be-titled movie will begin from the 2023 British Grand Prix onwards.

Now, according to reports, Brad Pitt and the F1 movie film crew will form an "11th team", with the Hollywood actor driving on the track during race weekend. However, Brad Pitt and the actors will not be driving on a hot track with other racers. Instead, filming will occur between sessions and will continue across multiple F1 race weekends throughout the year.

Reports also state that Brad Pitt won't be driving an F1 car, but rather a F2 car modified to look like an F1 car by the Mercedes-AMG team. Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1, is said to have previously stated that the filming could be "quite invasive". However, if controlled in a way, it could be another way of showcasing the sport.

The F1-based movie itself, as mentioned, will have Brad Pitt in the lead role. It is being made by Apple Studios, and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski from Top Gun: Maverick. It will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In addition, Sir Lewis Hamilton will also be assisting in the movie's production to ensure the script is as close to the real sport as possible.
