Reports suggest that MG could launch the Astor in India in September 2021. The car is likely to be unveiled later this month.

The Astor will come with a personal AI assistant. The interactive robot is said to depict human-like emotions and voices and can give information about various topics via Wikipedia.

It will also be equipped with Level 2 autonomous technology. It uses mid-range radars and cameras and offers features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA) and Speed Assist System amongst others.

The SUV will get MG's Concept of Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) software.

The Astor is likely to be offered with two petrol engine options. These include a 1.5-litre unit producing 118 BHP and 150 Nm and a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine with 161 BHP and 230 Nm. Expect it to come with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
