Tata Motors to launch Bolt hatchback on January 22, 2015

Tata Motors has announced that it will launch the Bolt hatchback in India on January 22, 2015.

The Bolt is likely to be available with a choice of two engines - one petrol and one diesel. The petrol unit is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, Revotron engine, which produces 89 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The engine has three drive modes - City (default), Eco and Sport. The diesel unit is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, Quadrajet power plant developing 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The top variant of the Bolt will be equipped with features such as climate control, electric power assisted steering (ePAS), anti-lock braking system (ABS), Corner Stability Control (CSC), dual airbags and a Harman-developed touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone-based navigation and eight speakers.

Bookings for the Bolt were opened last month with the booking amount set at Rs. 11,000. The Bolt will be the second product to be launched under Tata Motors' Horizonext strategy, the first one being the Zest compact sedan.
