The Kia Seltos now gets 6 airbags and rear disc brakes as standard across all variants. The base price of the SUV has now been raised by Rs. 30,000. Prices now start at Rs. 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Seltos also comes equipped with Electronic Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Kia also offers front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera on select variants.

On the inside, the Seltos gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, power adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, head-up display and electric sunroof among other features.

No mechanical changes have been made and the SUV continues to use the same of set of engines as before. These include a 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

At present, the Kia Seltos is offered eight different trims. The SUV gets 4 airbags as standard, along with features such as ESC, Hill Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and all-wheel disc brakes with brake assist.

No mechanical changes are expected, and the SUV will continue with the same set of engine options – 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The Kia Seltos facelift has been spotted testing in India once again. The latest spy images partially reveal the SUV’s new front fascia.

The Seltos facelift will get a redesigned front grille and split headlamps. The front bumper has also been tweaked and now gets a wide air dam with vertical vents on either side. Note that the test mule seen in these images has projector headlamps and halogen tail lights, which suggest that it could be a lower variant.

Mechanically, the Seltos facelift is likely to be similar to the outgoing version. It will continue to use the same 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

The updated Seltos is likely to be offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and is expected to be launched later this year.

Kia has taken the wraps off the 2022 Seltos facelift. The SUV is expected to be launched in India sometime in 2023.

The updated Seltos gets a tweaked front fascia featuring a revised radiator grille and front bumper. The SUV gets new LED headlamps with striking new LED daytime running lights.

The new Seltos also gets a heavily redesigned rear end. It now gets L-shaped LED tail lamps with an LED light bar similar to the Kia Carens. Other changes include a reworked rear bumper and new alloy wheels.

The interior gets a new lease of life with a sleeker dual-screen setup, which includes a digital instrument cluster and a wide touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV is also expected to get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

2022 Kia Seltos & Sonet launched in India

Kia has announced the launch of the 2022 Seltos and Sonet with prices starting at Rs. 10.19 lakh and Rs. 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

2022 Kia Seltos

According to Kia, the updated Seltos comes with 13 different changes. All automatic variants now come with paddle shifters with multi-drive and traction modes. Kia has also introduced a flat-bottom steering wheel, SUS scuff plate and tailgate, while the X Line gets a new logo and Indigo Pera seats.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is now available with an iMT in HTK+ trim. Also, the 1.5L Diesel 6AT is now offered in the HTX variant as well.

The Seltos is equipped with a host of safety features including ESC, Vehicle Stability Management, Brake Assist, Hill Assist Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and disc brakes all around. The HTX+ variant gets additional curtain airbags.

2022 Seltos prices now range between Rs. 10.19 lakh to Rs. 18.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

2022 Kia Sonet

The Sonet gets 9 new updates which include side airbags and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which will be standard across all variants. The crossover also gets ESC, VSM, Brake Assist and Hill Assist Control as standard on the iMT variants. Curtain airbags will now be available from the HTX+ variant onwards.

The Sonet now comes with a 4.2-inch colour instrument cluster from the HTX variant onwards, while semi-leatherette seats will be offered from the HTE variant. Other changes to the model include a flat-bottom steering wheel and a new Sonet logo.

2022 Sonet prices now range between Rs. 7.15 lakh to Rs. 13.09 lakh (ex-showroom).

2022 Kia Seltos to get new suspension tune, other updates

Rear disc brakes & side airbags to be standard across all variants of the 2022 Seltos.

Kia is set to introduce a whole host of updates on the Seltos. Among the list of changes is a new suspension tune.

According to a document, the MY2022 Seltos will get "improved suspension" across all variants. Kia is also likely to introduce a new 1.5L Diesel HTK+ variant, which will be equipped with the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT).

Interestingly, features like Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear disc brakes, side airbags, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC) and Brake Assist is likely to be offered as standard across all variants. Curtain airbags will be available from HTX+ onwards, while Traction / Drive Modes and paddle shifters will be offered in the HTX trims as well.

Other updates include new Seltos and Kia Connect logos, new IRVM with the Kia Connect Button, X Line logo on Indigo Pera Seats and new 16-inch wheel covers on the HTE and HTK variants.

The 2022 Seltos will be offered with two new colour options: Sparkling Silver and Imperial Blue.

The Kia dilemma: Carens vs Seltos

Have shortlisted and booked two cars - Seltos and Carens. I know both are from different segments, cater to different people, but still I need to choose from either.

Would need some inputs from all of you. Have recently sold off my trusted Ciaz after completing around 70,000 odd kms in 6.5 years. All because of Diesel NGT ruling - but that's a different topic all together.

So, for replacement, have shortlisted and booked two cars - Seltos and Carens. I know both are from different segment, cater to different people, but still I need to choose from either.

I am not a heavy right foot driver - sedate and mileage/safety conscious. So performance as such is not a major point for me. I was able to recollect and jot down the following points only. Please do suggest !

Here's what GTO had to say on the matter:

Really depends on whether you need that 3rd row or not. If it is going to be 4 adults + 1 kid + dog 10 times a year (almost once a month), it is the Carens for you. Even apart from the last row, the Carens has one major advantage for a family car over the Seltos = ride quality. Where the Seltos is firm and bumpy over bad roads, the Caren's soft comfort-oriented suspension is a pleasure on our imperfect roads.

I would personally buy a Seltos because it is the more fun-to-drive. But for your family usage, the Carens will be a better fit. Just be sure to pick the right engine + transmission option.

Your chart mentions human beings and dog in the car for 6-10 times a year which is 6-10 times a year when a Seltos will be cramped whereas the intention would be to travel comfortably (am assuming the price differential is manageable financially, it should be justifiable mentally for sure keeping comfort of all travellers in mind). Also it is fairly carlike to drive with passengers across rows relatively comfortable, I think this is largely due to the tyres it has, they really got the size perfectly matched.

No opinion on the DCT in your chart, am assuming there are good reasons for going for a petrol automatic vs TC gearbox diesel in the same model and an equally good reason you have considered this car over the facelifted 6-7 seaters about to launch from Maruti.

Also add the point of Carens being a new car, although seems well sorted, the potential for new car issues exists.
