I wouldn't say i was disappointed. It's a very competent machine which many people will really like. As for the power, my expectations were based on the advertised engine specs. However power delivery obviously depends on many things like gearing etc. I haven't done a long test drive to make a fully qualified statement. It's not underpowered at all if i gave anyone the wrong impression.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

Sorry for being OT but I have not seen the April 2013 car sales analysis which is a usual read I always wait and look forward to.

Any idea when it is going to be uploaded?

I was about to book the base diesel trim of Amaze but decided against it due to pathetic behavior of SA. He was reluctant to entertain the moment he learnt that I am looking at no frills model.

I am generally not self driving and the rear bench is no different in any of the models. I took the straight decision to consider base diesel model. The SA started talking about accessories, zero dep insurance and extended warranty which I turned down and he simply excused himself and walked away. I waited for good 20 minutes with my cheque book and finally decided to walk out of the dealership.

GTO will be updating the monthly sales analysis early this week. He has acknowledged that there is a delay this time. It would generally be in the Indian Car Scen Section. Further reference can be made at the link mentioned below.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

Its really sad to see a good product getting affected by such bad customer service. I hope Honda is listening to all this negative feedback and does something about the dealers. I have been taking my car for servicing at Deccan Honda Pune for the past 4 years and always had a good experience. I will visit one of the Pune dealers soon and let you know my experience.

Which Deccan Honda dealership you used to visit..? I am a customer of Deccan Honda Pimpri. It's a kind of just OK service. Nothing much to highlight.

I visit the satara road one. Found the service staff quite good. Not sure about the front line sales staff though.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

Deccan Honda at Singasandra Bangalore treated me well and I booked with them but I faced similar arrogance at whitefield honda earlier.

I really do not understand this often repeated attitude issue of Honda.
May be some problem in the training / breifing of sales staff ?

Long back I took extensive test drives of Toyota Innova for deciding between Innova , Scorpio and Safari and finally settled for Safari but the sales people were extreamly corteous and well informed though innova was ( and still is) hot selling and that is also a Japanese brand.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

It looks like this thread has come to a halt since last two days!!!
I think its time to move on and look at few Ownership reports

It looks like Amaze sales picked up though the sales for rest of the cars in the market seeing a dip.
Referring to: Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-analysis.html

Interestingly, as Amaze sales picked up, Etios sales dropped!. It seems sales for these two cars were inversely proportional.
Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)-amaze_sales_impact.png

This could be just that initial interest for the new baby in the market. Generally, the sales for all the cars are dropping, including Dzire. Looking at 22000 cars booked already, Honda amaze might churn out 4000-5000 cars every month to keep this graph stable for next few months.

Mukul_kuls has shared a short ownership report of his Amaze on this post of the thread.

Linking to it as it was just moved here. Might help those looking for ownership experiences.

Thanks!

Called up dealer to check with him about the accessory list. Surprisingly, he said they still haven't received the list. Its been a month since the launch so i don't understand the delay.
Any info regarding this?

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

If you thought Honda Cars India isn't aggressive enough to challenge the segment leaders with their new launches (since last year, first the Brio and now the Amaze), think otherwise.

First they brought out an official pictorial challenge taking on the might of the Hyundai i10 with the Brio, and now, amidst all the raging discussions centered on one burning hot topic (Honda Amaze vs Maruti Suzuki DZire), here is their own official take on this, through (you guessed it!) another pictorial!

(Snaps taken by my Galaxy Note in the Honda dealership lounge. Please pardon the quality.)

So, they are pretty serious about taking Honda mainstream in the Indian market. Let's see what the customers go for, in the coming months, specially after Honda ramps up it's production capacity to double by year-end.

Agree to all points by Honda except the maintenance cost.
They conveniently hid the 6 months service interval on the Amaze ( vs 1 year on the Dzire ). Amaze will be cheaper to maintain only if you complete 10,000 kms in 6 months. For the 10,000 kms per year people, Dzire will still be the cheaper one to maintain.

Does anybody understand this comparison by Honda about maintenance cost or running cost of Amaze vs Dzire? How this is calculated? It says, running cost of Diesel amaze would be 83% lesser than Dzire!
Could not make out anything out of that comparison graph.

Honda is not sharing Dash Board while comparing ....Dezire is miles ahead in Dash style and finish.
