Checked the suspension, no oil leaks

I am asked to keep vehicle for some diagnostic work up and they need to send it to honda

They are suspecting some increased tolerance of H beam ! Costs 30k and only if honda agrees I will get it done under warranty - frustrati :

Anybody with similar issues or with any technical knowledge about what test they are about to perform to know from where noise is coming ?

Yes. There was a problem with my car from day one ! There was creaking sound that one could hear when getting in/out of the car when parked on a slope with handbrake on. This sound used to come only with handbrakes on.

The dealer said this sound was seen in other vehicles also( not all of them ). They did try re-torquing the rear suspension set up during the first few services. When this didn't help , I was told this could be a problem with the H - beam which would be replaced under warranty if the sound increased.

Also , you said you have changed the discs ! It might be the pads and not the discs that you are referring to. Try writing to Honda about this and they will send you a copy paste answer saying it's wear n tear and not their fault !

No use - the vibration persists if I go beyond 40 kmph or so.

I had a problem with the CRVM. It used to vibrate between 60-80 kph in top gear. So much , that I had to rely on the side RVMs as it was impossible to view anything in this. The idiots are Dakshin Honda said this was because of a loose nut and tightened the mirror so much that I couldn't adjust it at all ! No matter how much they tightened , the mirrors continued to be possessed.

What I used to do ? :

Service intervals of 10 K looked too long given that brake pads wear out every 8-10 K kms in the diesel amaze. I used to visit Penninsular Honda every 4-5 K kms and do a general check up. Costs 1K INR and they check all lubes + top up , check / clean brake pads and also do a complete wash. Would advice everyone to follow this 5 K kms check up to avoid any surprises.

In case you suspect the wheels, any dent in the wheels (That is caused by we going through the bigger pot holes in the highway) could cause vibrations at specific speeds. One solution is to try replacing the driver side wheel with spare one and see if the vibration goes off. If so you can check the removed wheel fro dents and set it right.

On 2nd thoughts I figured that the sound wasn't coming from below where the wheels are. It is apparently either the driver side door hinge or the rear view mirror.

Advice regarding Amaze alignment

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this community but I have been as avid reader of many of the posts since a long time. All the posts and topics have been detailed and well worth the read.
I am new to car driving. Have been a bike person for more than a decade. I recently bought the Honda Amaze SMT Petrol (less than a month back). I drove it for a couple of days in the first week. Then did not use it for 2 more days. Again used it for a couple of days (Everyday the driving was approximately 20km). Again a break of 2 days. Drove it again and on this particular day I observed a problem. The left front door was making a sound like "katt" on opening the door. At first I thought it was something to do with the OVRM as I had recently set it. We were trying to find what was wrong, when a neighbour uncle told me that the door was touching the part in front(above the wheel... Sorry I do not know what it is called). I opened the door again, and suddenly a bit of that part above the wheel went inside. And now the door could not be removed.

I have attached the picture with here.

Next day I took the car to Honda showroom in Bangalore. The guy at the showroom tried telling me that I must have hit it somewhere or someone must have hit it while it was parked and blah blah. I told him nothing of that sort happened. There is not a single scratch on the car to prove it. He then said maybe someone leaned on the car with full weight so it must have happened. I said in that case, I would be questioning his manufacturing quality. I said some screw must have come loose inside or there is some alignment issue. He agreed and said he will look. I said I don't want to claim insurance as it would devalue the car when its a manufacturing defect.
He said it will take 1 day in the workshop and since next 2 days were holidays, he would keep my car for 4 days. As I needed the car I said to work something around.
So he said that he would do a temporary fix and during first service (which is due next week), he would fix it completely.

Please advice me anything regarding this matter that you can as I am a newbie and it would greatly help.

P.S: I tried searching for similar thread but did not find it. If its already there, mods please redirect me to it. Also, I hope I have posted in the right category.

Looks like another common manufacturing issue with the Amaze? Can see the same discussions in the Amaze official thread as well- although nowhere as severe as above.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3638881

Other members have also been reported sounds from the ORVM. Perhaps it's safer to get the door hinges checked.

Re: Advice regarding Amaze alignment

Are you sure nobody hit the car? This sort of thing happens when something hits the fender and causing it to deform and subsequently the fender will mess up the operability of the door. Since there is no visible sign of an accident on the fender you must argue your case with Honda and demand repair/replacement of fender under warranty.

Re: Advice regarding Amaze alignment

It appears that the fender or the front door got dislocated which normally occur when external force gets applied.

The picture indicates that the fender is slightly bent at the a pillar zone. It needs an expert to rectify it properly, without damaging the paintwork.

Advisable, to get it rectified at the dealer's workshop.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

@CrAzY dRiVeR, @bullrun87, @rajeev k
There is no hit on the car when this happened.
After they(Honda showroom guys) did the temporary fix, it is looking like how it would look before.
But it is still not perfect as it needs work during the service.

I have to take it for servicing in another 4 days time. They have said that they would fix it and I have told I don't want to claim insurance (The sales guy was telling me to claim insurance and the showroom manager said don't claim insurance). How can I base my argument so that they don't unnecessarily charge me as this is a manufacturing defect?
They have sort of agreed that its a manufacturing issue, but they haven't discussed about the charges yet.

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

@SwatiS: It looks as if some thing was lodged in the gap between the door and the panel (Like a piece of wood or rubber) and when the door was opened the force was enough to put that dent on the panel. I doubt if some kids are to be blamed here as i have seen kids trying to put some toys or sticks into that gap.
Just a guess, what do you feel?

I dont think anything was logged in there. But I really don't know.

Another query that I have is I am not able to play songs from my phone on the music system after connecting via USB. Is anyone else facing this issue?

The amaze stereo is a bit picky on which USB it supports and which it doesn't. A samsung USB didn't work, HP and Sandisk did for example - when I was usinng a USB stick.

For your phone, it should already have a headphone jack. Connect an aux cable to that jack and plug the other end into the aux input jack on the stereo front panel. That will work with anything at all that supports aux output (aka headphone jack on the phone)

re: Review: 1st-gen Honda Amaze (2013)

Hi Everybody,
I am an follower/reader of many threads on this forum since 2008. I joined as a registered contributor relatively recently. Primarily a motorcycle enthusiast @ Bikenomads (see fb/groups/bikenomads/) since 2001. Also, I have owned and driven quite a few cars namely the Standard Herald model (1961 model), HM Ambassador Mark-II (1979 model), Maruti 800 (2002 model), Alto VXi (2005 model), Alto 800 (2014 model), Getz CRDi (2007 model), & brought home a Honda Amaze MT Diesel in Nov 2014. Total driving experience about 1.7 lakh kms. That's about my intro.

Coming back to the topic at hand. I am a happy owner of the Honda Amaze, having driven 7500 kms so far. Teh engine has really opened up and sweetly responsive especially after crossing 2500kms on the odo. Returning excellent avg fuel economy of 22.5 kms per lit of diesel (70% long trips, 30% short in-city trips, with AC on & windows rolled-up always). Overall good ownership experience.

I have a few observations, which I feel needs to be brought to the attention of group-members as well as tech specialists @ HCIL:
1. In-cabin noise: The iDTEC engine growl (read *GROWL*) is more audible inside the car cabin than to a person standing outside. Couldn't a company like Honda, known for its finesse and quality among its products like the City, Civic, Accord, CRV etc., utilise a little more design effort (and glass-wool) to reduce the in-cabin noise? Would it have been so much more costly? Any suggestions or DYI ideas by smarties out here who have tried to reduce the in-cabin noise?

2. AC on/off switch heating up: The AC On/Off switch is getting very hot to the touch. So much so, it is almost like I am suspecting an electric loose-connection resulting in a spark-heating inside the switchgear. After about 10 minutes of running, if I need to roll down the window and wanna switch off the AC, the shockingly hot switch gives me a jolt - its probably almost 65-70 deg C. When the AC is switched off, the switch is not heating up. Anybody else having the same observation?

Not me in over seven months of using the amaze. I suspect a short circuit or a loose wire, get it checked
