I am totally agree with your comment on rattling, i have covered more than 15K, no rattling other than seat belt hook sound.
A small query, during 15K service they asked me to replace AC air filter. I haven't done that, just cleaned that once again.
Any idea how frequently we need to replace this(i know it depends on the usage), but considering about Bangalore pollution and my usage is 90% AC with change in fresh and circulation mode?
Otherwise no issues.

Actually, the Air filter is changed during the 10K kms service, if needed to be. In my case, they have changed the filter. As per schedule the next period is 30K kms.

I guess have you have not changed it during the 10K Kms right? May be thats why they recommend to do it now.

1. 1st replacement at 10k. 2nd at 30k. A little off-kilter ?
2. " if needed to be ". What would be the qualifying criteria for this ?
3. Did you check the filter before you gave it for service ? (You could have known if it really needs a replacement / or just cleaning )
4. Do you check & clean your filter regularly ? (can fuel-efficiency on an on-going basis, and increase life of the filter).

(Note: it's only an air filter, not an oil / fuel filter. You can do the checks without the A.S.C getting too finiky about it.)

If you do #4 above, you can tell the A.S.C to replace / not replace as required.


Mahesh, suggest you get a little more (inter)active with the air filter. It's easy, too.

1. Yes. 10K its just a checkup. And if its too bad, it will be repalced as per cashless ownership manual.
2. Criteria? Umm, I guess how bad the filter has become. Dont ask me how bad is defined
3. No, I dont. Infact I dont even know it was replaced until I opened the boot yesterday. I found the old filter kept in the box.

I used to replace the air filter of my zen on my own every 6 months as it cost just 100 bucks.

But I read somewhere on this forum that the sensor to the ECU needs to be disconnected prior to opening the air filter. I think its for Swift.
Is this true? And is it for the Vista too?

Are you convinced with that statement ? And what would be the logic behind that ? Is there a logic ?

A passive component, which doesnot come into play at anytime the engine itself is not running, should not require that, right ?

Wiper - unless you have a tuner in your bonnet

Out of curiosity: Why is it bad to open the hood just to fill water? That can mean everything is working as intended.

No, it was not replaced. They managed to fix it with the screws. not perfect, but ok. We can notice the difference, but still. Zero cost.
