if they are working keep them, if not get new pair of auto lock hubs :D.

Not all are aluminum made. The ones i have are metal. Google better.

Oh they are working just fine. On permanent lock also it does its job!
Again, is it an OE fitment or did I get lucky?

I bought mine from chor bazaar which were taken off an old written off one. So ya maybe yours are OEM too.

PS: Jeepster please google and reconfirm my answer.

Btw: you did not know anything about those hubs 4 posts back and all of a sudden you say "AFAIK they are a warn design...". How?

sorry it was a typo.
its a borg warner designed selectable locking hub, which is different from normal auto locking hub.
the working & internal parts are different too.

i know some one from a pune based DivgiWarner, who hinted this to me.:D (i think you know him too)
(on the facebook group as he is not a tbhpian yet, but trying very hard for it)

& for the aluminum material, may be the taller ones are made of aluminum. (the one posted by me)

Most of the early vehicles have parts from other manufacturer parts bins before they localize the stuff. It is very possible that these hubs came as standard fitment on his car.

Thanks for the info Tejas, Jeepster. Hopefully these are hardier and more reliable than the Safari hubs that come as OE now!'

Joyeb:clap:looks like a transformer in the making!!! BTW are those TATA Sierra suspension? Are you completely planning for a coil over suspension?

What are the plans for the critical parts?? What combo have you finally decided upon?

Good going Jyobeb. Are you still planning for a lift kit?

Few things that might be of interest to you that I ran into last weekend:
1) Safari 4wd gearbox with transfer case
2) A Jeep Station wagon (Wagoneer?) that is up for sale in Ahmedabad with a Peugeot transplant.

If you are interested in the mini truck engines (e.g. Swaraj Mazda, DCM Toyota) then there are a few available here.

PM if interested.

Cheers,
Adi

Beboy - you are going to jack up prices of 2nd hand 4wd safaris :)

I heard the 3L 207/407 engine (NA and Turbo version) are a bit easy (not a very direct) fit.

The whole project is based on Safari underpinnings.

Not sure yet.

How much are they asking for it?

I am looking for a Toyota 14BT engine. If you come across a Mazda 4wD engine gearbox combo please let me know.
PM if interested.

Thanks for the suggestions

Not powerful enough !!!!

I saw those tyres and there was just one thought on my mind.
That the mods should allow expletive based adjectives on this thread.
Man o man,is this turning into an awesome "thing"!!!!!
What's your timeline on this sir?
:)
New years eve unveiling,p'r'aps?

What axles are you running and what dif ratio do you plan?

Keep in mind the torque generated by the the 14B turbo and the weight of the 35inchers. I too had considered 35s but settled for 32. I've also put a 14B NA in my project.

What plans for steering setup?

I am using the Safari axles. The diff ratio is 4.55:1.
Where did you get the 14B engine from? I could use a supercharger along with it. What do you think?

If the axles on the old Safari (TCIC) are the same as the new (2.2/3.0) then am sure you'll be able to use the Safari axles with even a 14B-T as torque generated should be in a similar range (300+Nm)

Based on what I found out, its easier to find a 14B as those were fitted on those DCM trucks but finding a 14B-T is way tougher as that is probably an import.

Will ask about the Safari GB/TC and let you know.
