Saw the picture, but where did you get the specs from? None posted on that site.

Hmm, but I checked out the trax page. They mention a different engine and dont mention crdi at all. Are you sure they sell crdi in India. Is there some link on their website which says so?

Now, how many times do I have to post repeatedly for it to appear. I posted the info twice and it became vaporware. I hereby confirm the presence of druids in the forum who make things appear and disappear. heheh

And trax mentions CRDI engine, plz scroll down the list of features in the 'Short Wheelbase - 5 door,2400 mm' aka Gurkha category you will find that there is an CRDI engine option at almost the end of the list.

Option of 4 cylinder, Direct injection engine available.

And OM611 by the way happens to also be a 4 cyl, CRDI engine.

Well all I can say is that it may be there on the web site but it ain't on the road yet, atleast not on regular poduction vehicles and definitely not from '98 onwards.

My goodness, 98 is when OM611 engine begins production, that date is not connected to its incorporation into Trax models.

4 cylinder direct injection does not imply crdi. Where does it say "Common Rail".
And why no specs on force motors website?

Why not ask Force Motors themselves:

Domestic Sales:

Mr. Ravinder Singh – Vice President
Telephone: +91-20-27404476
Mobile: +91-98-22013993
Email: rsingh@forcemotors.com

Specs for OM611 are from the RicardoUK website, I posted that website twice but post failed to appear or disappeared soon after posting...

http://www.forcemotors.com/html/downloads.aspx

I downloaded the specs of their engine from here, for all 4 models of MuV, the power was 45KW and torque was 158Nm.
I wonder what is that 130BHP version everyone is talking about. Did not find any mention of it on their entire website.

I think they haven't updated their website yet...

Their 'powerpack manufacturing' details under 'Areas of excellence' still shows them manufacturing OM616 engines and G1-18 Gearbox. This is obviously old news, and has been replaced by OM611 and G32 5speed gearbox.

Meanwhile this news has also been confirmed by BHPian with i.d. Gurkha here. And he posted this on Sept 2005

Quote:
The OM 611 CRDI is what I tested, that engine will blow any other diesel SUVs around here except for the 6 cylinder jobs, the new tranny is quite good too but I have no faith in CRDI's comparative longevity as compared to the OM 616/617, I would have rather seen the 617 turbo there.
Meanwhile I have shot off a mail to the VP, ForceMotors....Awaiting Reply

Being an impatient sort, I have spoken over phone to one Mr. Jayprakash Jetley, Manager of Tempo Automobiles, New Delhi. (Force Motors Dealer) and he has confirmed that Gurkha with OM611 Engine is available on special order with 1 month waiting !

I have heard that they deliver the vehicle by driving it all the way from the factory to your local dealer. If that is true, it could be be quite unbearable to most of us.

Who wants the vehicle? Its so badly put together that it makes M&M and Tata look like luxury carmakers.

We're talking engines here.

The engine is the most seductive part of the package, it served once upon a time (does it still ??) in the Merc C220 CDI, but I think or should I use 'hope' that the 'short wheelbase Gurkha' that they manufacture mainly for export is a better built one !

Steeroid, what I wrote above was about the only details I was able to obtain from the dealer, as he started saying something about the price etc, my mobile battery gave up on me. But I will contact him tomorrow for further details and will post it on here.

Samurai, everything bigger than a car is driven down. I am only not sure about the Safari. Other exceptions are the premium SUV's like the Fords, Nissans etc. Bolero's, Scorps, Sumo's, Force travellers, 407's .. all of them.
