same cant be said about force motors, yes we dont want this much of a drastic change[rather cant afford] but surely quality needs to improve a lot more even for Indian conditions.
Rumour in the Mumbai circles in the mid nineties had it that the Sumo styling and packaging were 'inspired' by the old Merc G-Wagen. Not unfounded, those rumours were. Hmm...

then again, tata's did make the Safari before Merc made the M-Class

Hi friends,

OM 611 is in development & by my sources would be out by October this year, where would getcommonised for both trax as well as traveller range.

Also with this facelift of trax with a new 5 speed G32 gearbox.

Expect a revamped trax with new interiors, exteriors, engine & gearbox in due course of time.

I am not an engineer but what is there to 'develop' an engine that is already well developed and field tested for years? That too for so many months?

I guess Daimler is going to give Force the necessary drawings, gears and dies or whatever it takes to make it (as they are moving on to newer things)?

I know design has been freezed but it taken time to develop all the parts required, lots of vows are there, Om611 is under development since 2005, it was left behind due to Man project & as that projects has been executed focus is back on OM 611, development time can be anything between 15 days to 2 to 3 months for components like casting/forgings/sheet metal/machined/plastic/rubber etc.

You are right, I think what he meant to say was the indegenization program was in process. Merc has high quality standards and it takes time to find the correct vendors even if you have drawings.

Besides, Force dosent have the capability to develop a new diesel engine.
