Did you damp your car? If yes, can you please give some info on how it has helped to change the NVH. I'm also considering it for my Elevate. I read a lot on this forum and saw some videos, very good information available. However, with prevalent engine noise in Elevate, I'm not sure what results would I get. I got some quotes in Pune from car shoppies. They are around 70K-1L for entire car with Dr. Artex material. Hence, looking for some first hand review of damping Honda Elevate.

Thanks.

Where is bhakti park in Mumbai? And do you want to damp only doors or full car?

Ask around for damping there and see what options they have with pricing. You will need 8 to 10 sheets for 4 doors and boot. Make sure they'll use a roller for installation.

I know a guy there for sun film who will install till edges.

I have got this type of damping done on the door pads, these are more expensive than normal damping sheets. Mine was from Morel.

The installer had done normal damping sheets on the door frame, car floor and these on the door pad.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Recently got damping done on my new Verna.
I am no music or sound enthusiast but I do love a quiet rattle-free car so the sole purpose of getting it damped was to achieve an even quieter cabin.

Being a complete noob when it comes to damping, I did thorough research here on team-bhp and various YT videos and decided to begin with getting the doors damped first since I needed to know if it made a difference and oh boy! Not only the cabin is more silent now, but the door has a good weight added to it and shutting it close feels so much more premium!

I opted for 2 layer damping of inside and outside.
The installer suggested going for a 3-layer damp instead (1: Inner, 2: Outer 3: Doorpad) but once I told him I wanna go for Morel Acudamp for the 2nd layer he then said doorpad damping is not required if you're going for this one.
Will share the pics and products used below.

TORQ 2mm damping is used for the inner layer.
I wanted to go with Morel yellow series but the installer being an old friend suggested going with this instead so I trusted him on this.

Morel Acudamp on the outer layer.
This is a 3 layer damp and one of the most expensive ones out there.

This is how it looks all packed.

Overall I am very satisfied with the results. Will surely be considering getting the hood and floor damped in future for even better NVH.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

A proper noob question- going to slap some aftermarket speakers on my 2012 Vento. Been told by the shop that Volkswagen and Skoda cars don't require door damping. I was a bit perplexed by this as wasn't aware that these cars come with damping already? Anyone aware of this or are the margins on damping sheet too tiny for the shop to worry?
The shop is reliable radio, lamington road in Mumbai- they come highly recommended on this forum.

Yes, these cars have better build quality than the Japanese and Korean cars but even then dual layer damping is highly recommended for doors if you go with speakers because then your door will act as an enclosure and there wont be resonance of metal. Also, diesel cars have more engine clatter noise than petrol anyway.

Re: The Damping Material and Sound Deadener Thread

Please seek expert opinion on damping the hood. It surely is a fire risk. One of the reasons why you don't find any type of hood lining on modern cars, let alone damping.
