5-8 decibel difference is a decent improvement since the decibel is measured in Logarithmic scale.

- So from practical point of view, simple, if at all, door dampening would surface for improved music quality, lMO.
6dB reduction means noise has shrunk to 1/4th the original value. That's enormous.

And anything that doubles up as anti rust coating, especially for floor/under body?

Exactly the reason Im asking. I want to get damping done in the doors and also anti rust treatment. I believe in the long term the mat type damping sheets would retain moisture in the door and accelerate rusting. That's why I'm considering liquid damping which would i guess solve both issues but i was just curious if anyone had any feedback

I've XUV700 mx diesel. As per my observation, AX7L cabin is much quieter compared any other variant upto AX5. After some research and assumptions, i think AX7L offers better insulation from engine bay. ie on seperation wall of engine and cabin. Can we do this after market? It is something like this :

This is an epic installation, i myself am considering going for the same, albeit DIY route.
thanks for sharing the cost estimates too.

However, i don't see reason for damping the hood. Damping is used to damp the vibrations on a panel. For cabin comfort, panels enclosing the cabin should be damped.

Can you share the reason for damping the hood?

Thank you. This was not a planned installation. I went with the flow and did everything the audio expert suggested. It was well worth the effort.

There is a slight reduction in the engine noise. The engine noise levels have reduced since the hood damping.

Well, "Hi-res" is a long-standing flag of audiophools. In this context, I'd expect it to be just some marketing fluff. What is it supposed to do? Prevent vibrations that are outside the human hearing range?

Actually, that might be valid. Maybe they could cause some fatigue even though we can't hear them. Maybe.

What are they actually claiming?

No, I know you are not. You are just asking a good question, as many of us do when coming across a new product.

I'm wondering what the makers are claiming?

You are better off ordering the exact insulation material parts used in AX7L. Try your luck with nearest M&M service centre may be? Or Boodmo?

I am looking for a good heat n sound dampener for That. The accessories shop in Pune is offering Hi-res. My simple question is, is it good or there are better options. Any experienced BHpian who can guide.
I am sure you are aware how the Accessories-walas operate. They don't know the product they are selling, what matters to them is margins.
Thus Once again asking which company/brand offers good quality dampening sheets and where can I get it done in Pune.

Thar is a removable top vehicle , it won't be as insulated from traffic and wind noise as one would expect of a Wagon with fixed metal roof. However NVH levels are good considering what it is.

If you are doing any aftermarket stereo fitment you may look at reinforcing the door or areas that are likely to vibrate because of added music horsepower with sound deadening sheets but doing it for the entire car is useless. There is a lot more science involved in NVH control than just dumping rolls Dynamat or Killmat on a car.
