thats a pretty decent price ..... the US web site quotes USD 450 for it...you got it at a fairly decent price I would say...... But have you heard it yet anywhere?? how is the SQ??? Would love some reviews.....

well I have not heard it... neither do I know of anyone else in India who has.,. (I am sure they exist though) ... But most of the forums abroad have this down as the best sub $1k deck ever...

Singapore prices are more expensive - I got a quote of 23k from Chennai - about two months back... B&T confirmed that its available for 26k in Mumbai..

gurus... how would the P-880RS compare to a Kenwood K-CD01 ...as in SQ... Time alignment is perhaps the only featuremissing in the kenwood unit as compared to the Pioneer unit......

This was the question I had as well.. .. Finally the price I got it at .. and the fact that I already have the 1280 CD changer clinched it!

SK

Pending an audition of the P80, the best HU we have heard under US$1000 has to be the K-CD01. I have no doubt the P80 will sound great. Just remains to be seen (heard) whats the difference in tonality, staging etc.

I no longer give a LOT of importance to EQ, TA etc. I just want a great sounding source. End of Story.

As for the second HU, Hmmm.... I can smell an upgrade brewing from here... whatsay Zak?

I will say it as a personnal prefference here some like flat(Gunbir) some like it with less treble (KB100) some like it with more bass(LBM) also all the high end SQ system has a eq option in it and if it is there the user must be using it also....so I would say it is like listening preferences.......not a hard rule to take go for it or not......

Well none of the really High End HUs have EQ. Take for example the Denons, the McIntoshs. The HX-D2 also has a purist mode, called the DIRECT mode, that disables all EQ, TA, XO etc.

As for high end SQ systems, all the above requirements you named, more bass, less treble can be achieved by a good installer without using EQ etc.

phaji I was say the processor not in built the HU

You are right the head unit is in plain vanila flavour.....but the eq will make choclate and tutti fruity.....

and every thing can be achived with the eq and without eq it is not considered there but the eq helps in further refining more......
