oh k. so i think the genesis is almost finalized. unless someone comes up with a very convincing reason why i should get a BRAND NEW jbl gto7001 with a bill and warranty over PAYING MORE to get a used Genesis Profile SUB which has been used for a year. LOL

what's the fuse rating of the Genny? does it matter much? rated power of genny's is always much lesser than the typical power @ 14.4V. the typical power is shown in the genesis series III homepage of genesis-ice.com, but the typical power of the profile sub is not shown anywhere.

for example:
the series III monoblock does 750*1 @ 2 ohms, even though its rated by Genesis to do 500*1 @ 2 ohms.

any page where there are reviews of genesis amplifiers? detailed reviews?

Series III. They are typically grossly under-rated by Genesis.

"Extremely limited budget" my bottom.

A new S3 mono is like 1.2L. If you define that as an extremely limited budget...

Good choice, Frank! Don't go by just the "rated" power on the Genny. The "rated" power here will be what the amp will put out in normal, non-stress conditions without breaking a sweat. When the music pushes it to work, it will deliver the extra power needed.

As KK said, you'll find a lot of reviews of Genesis amps on Talkaudio.co.uk. Gordon of Genesis (more like Genesis of Gordon, heh heh) is a member there (his username is 'Gordon' itself) and you can probably PM him for specific info.

And good call on the ummm... other plan.

That will be 800w to his 300w*2 subs.
I dont think Doc would take this.
Even though it wont harm the subs i guess.

i wouldnt need an s3 to power my luccent subs :-)
maybe an upgrade to dynaudio subwoofers might do justice to the s3. and yea, an esteem wont do justice to both these. so i shall book a bentley instead

thanks nitrous. but the landed cost of this amp would be about $450 WITHOUT duty, so this would be a very expensive affair. id rather do a genesis profile ultra sub at that price!

thank you anupji! i know for a fact that the Genny will be more than a match for the luccent subs. more than 300W for an SQ application is not even desired. i will be more than happy to have the subs disappear when called for, and come to life when the music demands it. as i like to say, the way the music is made! and what better way to start off, than the classy luccent subs being given clean class G power from the Genesis!
thanks for the talk audio link, KK and Anupji. I just realized i am a member there. had registered to do some research about the DLS that is going into the car.
the DLS and the Genny might turn out to be a surprise combination, and quite a few in UK do this mix and match. DLS for the fronts, and Genesis for the subs: this is a tried and trusted combination. So happy to know that!

yes, true. as i said before, 300W (for me) to each sub is more than enough for my SQ application. in fact i might not even be using half the power at a given time!
i dont think even 500W to the luccents wont harm there. they are known to hang in there in the toughest of situations.
imagine, the luccent fronts have been fed 220W of power for long periods without them breaking into a sweat! (even though they are rated ! just 100W)
